Want to make a rightwing Christian's head explode?
ask them if they would be in favor of federally funded stem cell research if it were proven to "cure" homosexuality?

2. At the expense of repeating derogotary ideas about gay people?
Edited on Tue Apr-17-07 06:43 PM by Cronus Protagonist
No thanks.

I do, however, recommend suggesting we ban divorce to protect marriage.

Edited on Tue Apr-17-07 08:46 PM by Cronus Protagonist
...know what I mean? I mean what guy would let a hooker wash his feet and not even bang her?

http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_jegay.htm

The late Morton Smith, of Columbia University reported in 1958 that he had found a fragment of a manuscript which at the Mar Saba monastery near Jerusalem. It contained the full text of Mark, chapter 10. Apparently the version that is in the Christian Scriptures is an edited version of the original. Additional verses allegedly formed part of the full version of Mark, and were inserted after verse 34. It discusses how a young man, naked but for a linen covering, expressed his love for Jesus and stayed with him at his place all night.

OnEdit: I am not prepared to argue this position, just raising it for fun. For fun? you ask, how could that be fun? Well, I happen to think there is not a whit wrong with homosexuality, ergo this is an amusing topic, and seriously, is there a single one of His teachings that is lessened by His being gay?

19. And none of his teachings would be lessened if he were married
to Mary Magdaline, which was more than likely the case.

23. It's possible, but I'm sure plenty of people wouldn't agree
Conversations about Jesus are just as contentious as those about Israel, so I'm done with the topic now :P

"So Bob, since sexual orientation is a choice, then what you're saying is that you DID contemplate hot man-on-man action at some point in your life before you decided to be attracted to women, correct?"

9. They do not see homosexuality as being determined by biology
and there for can be cured by therapy. The usual therapist is a fundamental Christian Preacher who will for lack of a better term "exorcise" the evil thoughts about the same sex from their polluted minds.

They just want them to remain loveless and sexless.

21. Actually, some "ministries" make big money trying to "cure" glbt folks
Some of their victims are now parishioners of mine, and they've been through nightmares in hopes of being "cured". Those I know are now in good, healthy relationships and pretty much enjoying life now (as much as they can in a pretty conservative town, and many still estranged from family). But those "ex-gay ministry scams do a lot of harm.

11. A very interesting question to pose.
I talk to a social conservative each day who delivers to the store, that I work at. He and I get into it occasionally, but have gotten to a point where we do our best to respect each other's point of view, knowing we will not change that pov.

13. Not mention
Ask a parent of a gay child if theier son or daughter could be "cured" and have them tell you, NO THANKS.

But then it it is kinda like they think that if you have given birth you cannot possibly be Pro Choice.

Totally clueless people living in their own little world. Unfortunately, they want to impose that little world on the rest of us.
