Need some ideas please - my kid has to write a paper about 'Activist Social Reform Groups'
This is for a history class....go figure.

Groups that address gender and/or racism issues would be especially appreciated, I am told.

Now, I 'believe' my kid. I'm not so 'sure' about this assignment. Regardless, she's got to turn in a paper and asked me for some direction. What do y'all think? Suggestions? (she's still gotta turn in a paper).

TIA

a senior in college needs to know how to google, at the very least...

and help from parents at this late stage is gauche.

Oh, wait!

I'm with the teacher....

14. Of course. But she's just asking for some direction right now
And she's a great student - made the Dean's list most semesters. Trust me, she's got a helluva lot on her plate right now....a helluva lot. And so do I. She's just asking *me* (and now I'm asking DU) for a little help/direction.

TIA for any thoughts/ideas! :hi:

10. Step back, Mom. She's a senior in college. She needs to do her own reading and research,
and unplug from Facebook long enough to come up with an idea.

and NOW, NAACP, GLAAD...

You're a good Mom and as a former history teacher, the assignment sounds reasonable. There are too many to mention, local support groups for women and minorities...

because they promote rights of all sexes and ethnic groups at least indirectly. US Armed Forces (for an angle others may miss) for the same reasons.

29. How about Bully Police USA
I wrote a paper on that organization (or the leader anyway) and it got me a B+ or A- I think, with a teacher that never gives As. Good cause, outside the norm, good story (though really really really sad) about how it came into being, just not sure if it will count.

37. It doesn't have to be a "nice" paper about a "positive" activists does it?
A scathing report about the Christian Coalition or the KKK could be in order.
