Gillespie Field

October 2, 2009

The growing cracks and resulting debris are gone along two of Gillespie Field’s taxiways, replaced with smooth pavement for the thousands of aircraft that take off and land there every year.

“Our taxiways were about 40 years old, and it showed. Now, the pilots and passengers who use our airport get a better ride, and they don’t have to worry about the danger of rocks and other debris getting caught in their engines,” said Roger Griffiths, the manager of Gillespie Field in El Cajon.

Not that my local media would EVER report on this...

After all, this is GOOD NEWS for those fields, but that means that ugly guv'ment money... and all that helping local development.

:sarcasm:

I found out while going to the site to see if it is time to see if my local pharmacy has the H1N1 vax... again, not something my local news will tell us.

1. An acquaintance of mine is doing work for an investment banker.

From what my friend has told me about the talkative investment banker, they have it and are making shitloads off of it.

Nationalize banks now.

2. From what I hear in the environmental restoration movement, LOTS
of those stimulus dollars have gone for long-delayed but shovel-ready ecosystem restoration projects across the nation. San Francisco Bay is one place that is getting desperately needed help with projects.

3. There are several projects going on in this area,
this weekend I took a short trip east on I-70 and in 40 miles there were 4 separate Stimulus Projects going on. What pisses our Republican newspaper editor off is those signs that identfy them as Stimulus Projects. He doesn't mind the work being done he just doesn't like Obama getting credit for them.

4. Not Even Half Has Been Spent Yet Either
It's just getting warmed up, it's mostly backloaded.

Repubs are in for a shock come 2010 elections when jobs will really have started to pick up.

5. Okay....
But at least some of the money is being spent on lobbyists to insure that no additional regulations are being put on corporations. Go figure.
