This whole issue was first brought to my attention by Dylan Radigan video's on DU, recently.

Are the only two enterprises in America exempt from anti trust laws professional stadium sports and the insurance industry?

Seems weird to me. Also seems like some laws will have to be changed to remove the insurance industry's anti-trust protection.

School me, please.

PS - Elliot does indeed rock and it's great to seem him out there on many news shows. The BFEE flubbed the small plane crash on this guy, apparently!

2. Eliot was on with Dylan this morning
Word is that Obama is threatening to change the laws. Spitzer's view is that there is no need to threaten as a negotiating tool. He is adamant that Obama should simply change the law since the Health Insurance Industry has no right to anti-trust protection.

I agree with him 100%. :hi:

3. The exemption was granted in 1947
when the health insurance industry was non profit and needed some protection in smaller markets where it could be considered monopolistic. In some states, BC/BS was about it as far as health insurance companies went.

As we know, the health insurance industry has grown into a for profit, monopolistic horror show that has been operating in bad faith for decades.

They haven't deserved their exemption since the 80s when they went for-profit.
