DUer Livvy insisted we get over there before it was shredded beyond recognition. So we went, and we all realized what a beautiful, historic city Washington, DC, is, and how it's being manhandled and desecrated under this administration. The return of pride and respect for this country and its precepts are worth fighting for; the war should be the final straw.

2. Thankfully, the document is sealed to protect it from physical damage.
However, the chimp has still managed to soil it.

18. cosmic irony...
last June there were really bad rains and flooding in the DC area. The Archives was I think flooded the worst. I think I heard there was about 10 feet of water in the basement. Fortunatly none of the real precious documents were damaged but it was close..how ironic is that, all things considered?

3. Yes, it was sobering
to read those documents & know what all had to happen so that our rights could be secured, only to be whited out by war criminals 200+ years later.

 babylonsister!

4. Check out the Archives II out in Maryland.
That place doesn't have the "history on display" factor. Just straight research. The place will blow your mind. They got a bank of computers on the third floor devoted to declassified CIA documents. It's awesome.

5. Glad to hear it's still there
I was worried it might have ended up as presidential toilet paper by now (literally - I'm pretty sure he's already done that figuratively). :(

6. Glad you guys made it home safe and sound
We got home without incident as well.

It was great finally meeting you -- livvy and I think the four of us make a great traveling/rooming team.

I'll try to get my photos downloaded in the next couple of days.

I miss everyone already.

8. Helllooooo!
Back safe and sound, well mostly sound anyway.
Washington is an incredible city. It will be even nicer once we get that lying weasel out of our White House, and have it properly fumigated. Hmmmm....maybe we should throw in an exorcism, just to be on the safe side.
Great traveling with you. Lots of good laughs and good company can make even the saddest of situations so much more tolerable.

20. It was wonderful to meet all of you, too
And as SharonRB said above, I am missing you all too, already. Having major withdrawals. I wish I could have gotten into DC on Friday night so I could have been at the DU meetup.

I don't know what happened on Saturday night, somehow wires got crossed.

I can't wait for next time. The energy that you guys gave me, will keep me able to fight the good fight for a long time.
