Oh boy. On Meet the Press a few minutes ago, Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) took issue with the fact -- and it is a fact that lack of health insurance is linked to higher risk of death.

David Gregory asked Kyl about the issue of a "moral imperative," and said that while he's heard Kyl and other Republicans take issue with proposed health care reform legislation for fear that it might add to the budget deficit (although President Obama has insisted that it won't) -- he never hears such arguments from the GOP about a costly war in Afghanistan.

"No country can afford to scrimp and save, or try to win a war on the cheap," Kyl responded. "The president himself has said the war in Afghanistan, against these terrorists who killed over 3,000 Americans on Sept. 11 2001, is a war of necessity. You have to win it."

Gregory then asked, "And is it a necessity to tackle the fact that there are more and more Americans who die because they don't have access to health insurance?"

Kyl's response:
I'm not sure that it's a fact that more and more people die because they don't have health insurance. But because they don't have health insurance, the care is not delivered in the best and most efficient way.

(snip)
I imagine Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) -- of "Republicans want you to die quickly" fame -- might have a field day with this one.

3. That's the new meme, by the way
"Nobody ever dies from lack of health insurance. You never see that on a death certificate."

Doctors need to retaliate a little here and be honest when listing cause of death: UNTREATED gall bladder disease, UNTREATED heart failure, UNTREATED hypertension.

The only thing that will ever get through to a Republican is dying of medical neglect, himself.

5. You can't fix stupid....
How stupid, ignorant and how much of an asshole do you have to be to say something like that. This guy is a US Senator? The GOP has gone beyond the deep end...these people couldn't give a rats ass for anyone but themselves. Unfreakinbelievable....Unreal....Just WOW!

The Republican party is done. They will for the foreseeable future be the party of racists, bigots, the greedy and the totally ignorant - there is no other way to describe them.

10. He also has the nerve to complain about being shut out of the process?
Someone who doesn't see a problem is unlikely to sign on to any solution. By the way, Sen. Kyl, Republicans were included in the deliberations. What we got was screaming, crying, death threats, and "You lie" shouted at the President during an address to a joint session of Congress.

If you can honestly say that you would gladly host a pack of unhousebroken puppies into your personal estate, then keep whining about being shut out of the process. Otherwise, how about a nice big cup of shut the fuck up?

Kyl's response:

Kyl? How should I put this so it's chear? How about: "Fuck you and your weasel words. I am sick to death of you idiots getting away with word play. You make NO SENSE. You are a disgrace."

13. Every 30 days more people die from being uninsured than died on 9/11.
Twelve 9/11s every year. Now . . . how much money has been thrown around during the aftermath of that horrible day that was totally wasted? It's definitely more than enough to give every American good health care.

but it also and completely explains why he is an idiot.

I'm not sure that it's a fact that more and more people die because they don't have health insurance. But because they don't have health insurance, the care is not delivered in the best and most efficient way.

is like saying, "Guns and bullets don't kill people. People just don't move out of the way fast enough."
