Obama's Visits: Compare the Length of the Stays
Edited on Wed Oct-14-09 07:19 PM by Louisiana1976
Per HuffPo's Harry Shearer, Obama will be spending only 4 hours tomorrow in New Orleans--then he'll be flying on to San Francisco where he'll be spending 16 hours.

Shearer adds: Total elapsed time in SF: sixteen hours. They must have experienced a hell of a federal disaster there. Four times worse, you figure?

I wonder, what the fuck is such a big deal in San Francisco, that Obama has to spend 4 times as much time there, as he is in New Orleans?

2. Um, that includes sleeping time
He's arriving at 5:30 pm, leaving next am at 9:30, as I read the schedule.
My assumption is that he has a 4-hour dinner event, then goes to his hotel, leaves in the morning. Same "working" time as New Orleans.

Harry's getting a little hyper over this.

4. He's right to be hyper--
why couldn't Obama eat some of that splendid New Orleans food, then overnight in New Orleans? The next day he could check out how the work is coming along on New Orleans' levees, then overfly Louisiana's vanishing coastline and visit Mississippi, which was hard-hit by Katrina.

3. Did Louisiana vote for Barack Obama?
Did California?

How much devasation does he have to look at,
considering that he's been to Louisianna about 4 or 6 times
since the disaster?

Why in the fuck is everybody got their reactionary foot up in Obama's ass?

5. I'm not reactionary, but an angry, frustrated Obama voter who actually had the
audacity to hope that Obama's election would mean real change for New Orleans such as attention being paid to improving her levees and to the restoration of Louisiana's coastline.

7. Did New Orleans vote for Barack Obama?
I'm guessing Orleans Parish probably did.

6. So effing what??? NO is not the be all nor end all....Katrinas was 4y
ago, billions of dollars was spent in just this one city but this was not the only city affected. NO is not being rebuilt or up and running is not the federal government fault is lies with the corrupt politicians in LA (I have family in LA throughout) so the President spending 4 hours is IMHO more than enough time. Everyone wants to focus on NO but there are numerous other parrishes and cities that were affected by not only Katrina or Rita but we here in Houston are still rebuilding from Ike, but here in Houston our Mayor has worked tirelessly to ensure the city along with surrounding areas received funds to rebuild, in some instances paying for it then fighting to get the funds from FEMA or insurance companies. My home repairs shortage was covered by emergency funds which was refunded by my insurance company to the city so the damage to my house would not increase while fighting with State Farm, it took only one month to repair my house because my mayor fought for his all.

14. If Obama spent the proper amount of time in the area he would not only
visit New Orleans which was damaged by the federal flood, but also those parts of Mississippi and Louisiana that were hit by Katrina, Rita, Gustav and Ike. That's one reason his short trip to NOLA is so controversial. I know a NOLA blogger who calls Obama's trip there a "tinkle-stop tour."

15. There you have it
The new liberal response to New Orleans - so effing what, and it's up to your impoverished State to fix everything now, including wetlands that have been destroyed in order to provide gas for your Volvos around the country.

Funny how this stuff turns on a dime....
