Apartment residents told to take down U.S. flags

ALBANY, Ore. - At the Oaks Apartments in Albany, the management can fly their own flag advertising one and two bedroom apartments - but residents have been told they can't fly any flags at all.

Jim Clausen flies the American flag from the back of his motorcycle. He has a son in the military heading back to Iraq, and the flag - he said - is his way of showing support.

"This flag stands for all those people," said Clausen, an Oaks Apartment resident. "It stands for the people that can no longer stand - who died in wars. That's why I fly this flag."

But to Oaks Apartment management, Clausen said, the American flag symbolizes problems.

He was told to remove the red, white and blue from both of his rides, or face eviction.

"It floored me," he said. "I can't believe she was saying what she was saying."

4. A lot of people are uncomfortable seeing the flag
When some people see the flag, they think of calvary, holding the flag high, as they ride into a native-american village to rape and kill the villagers.

Others think of the slave ships flying the flag high as they pull into Charleston harbor with their shameful cargo.

Yet others think of the oil drill rigs and supertankers, all flying the flag, as they rape the environment.

I could go on but the point is that a lot of people are uncomfortable seeing that flag.

5. "A lot of people." You mean "some people," probably.
"Some people" fly into a suicidal rage when they see the color yellow. Should we amend the social contract to forbid yellow for those people?

7. So? Read whatever meaning you want into the flag, but that shouldn't
trample on the rights of Americans to display the flag of their country.
