Reid Trailing Possible Opponents
I read yesterday that Harry Reid is trailing two possible opponents in the Nevada U.S. Senate race. According to the article in USA Today the polls about the races are mainly hypothetical. They show the likely outcome if Reid were to face two different Nevada Republicans in two different races. In one of the races Reid is behind by 10 percentage points. The margin of error for the polls is 4%. I imagine some DUers are not too sad about the chance that Reid might lose his seat. My main question is are there any Democrats that might be able to beat Reid in the primary and win the general election?

2. We need to keep the seat, if not the person.
My suspicion is that Reid is the best we're gonna get out of Nevada.

4. Doubt there will be a primary challenger
Any democrat who could beat him will be left sitting on the sidelines. Senate Majority Leaders are sacred cows and any candidate that could take Reid down in the primary would be facing the full force of the party against them including the President. Also, I'm guessing Harry Reid has put the party apparatus on lock down since becoming a Senator.

Like Chris Dodd, these long term incumbents and powerful Senators are given a clear path to run for re-election even if it is known they will lose.

I hope the party learns its lesson if he's taken down. This would be the second Senate party leader in 10 years taken down in a General Election. They might want to look to safer seats like those in NY,CA, or IL to pick the top leadership out of in the future, so they don't have spineless leaders who have half their interest in leading the party, and half their interest in getting re-elected.

Republicans aren't dumb, they pick their leadership from safe seats.
