Virginians, current and former check in for a group hug...
this is going to be a tough couple of days, I'm bracing for release of the complete list of names of the victims, this will run deep into our communities. Such a terrible time for us, I know I'll be doing a lot of crying.

I've had some really fun times at Virginia Tech in my lifetime, it saddens me so much to think of the tragedy that took place there.

My thoughts are going out to all of the students, faculty, staff, families and loved ones involved.

I went to the University of Virginia and we have a pretty healthy rivalry with Tech. But today we're all Hokies.

Of course it's all everyone here at work is talking about, but I've had enough for awhile. I really hate that bush and his zombie wife will be so physically close to me later today. This is awful.

A lot of our friends are alums.

I went to Radford when it was all women. Tech was 15 miles away. Tech was known as VPI back then and had just gone co-ed. Many of the Radford "Ladies" dated Tech guys. I had a boyfriend back home and only went out in groups to Tech events.
Edited to add: I lived in Alexandria then.

18. Loudoun here
Waiting to hear that children of friends and colleagues are ok.

Just read a letter from our school superintendent -- they are preparing to help local students get through this and are reviewing security procedures, etc. They know that parents will be concerned, especially with the Columbine anniversary coming up later this week.

19. I would imagine that all area schools will have to address this..
the Virginia Tech roots run deep throughout our communities. Hoping all of your friends are okay, so far all of ours are, but we know of at least one who knew someone who was killed, the R.A. in the dorm.
