Hillary Clinton Rules Out White House Bid, Says She's 'Totally Secure' in Current Role
http://www.politicsdaily.com/2009/10/12/hillary-clinton-rules-out-white-house-bid-says-shes-totally-s/

In the middle of a diplomatic mission through Europe, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made headlines at home this morning when she closed the door on another bid for the presidency.

In an interview on the "Today" show, Ann Curry asked if Clinton ever wishes she, rather than Barack Obama, was setting U.S. policy. "I have to tell you," Clinton said, "it never crosses my mind."

Curry followed up, "Will you ever run for president again?"

"No," Clinton said.

"No?"

"No, no" Clinton insisted, laughing. "This is a great job. It is a 24-7 job. And I'm looking forward to retirement at some point."

1. They so desperately wanted her to either say "yes" or hedge her bets.
The fact that she said "No" without qualifying it has got to drive them CRAZY.

6. Yeah, she needs to wait her turn in 2016.
Then, once elected, she can appoint Barack Obama to the SCOTUS.

8. I don't recall anyone in the media asking McCain the same question in 2001
:eyes:

She's doing a great job as SOS, kicking ass & taking names. If Obama didn't feel she was up to that job, he wouldn't have appointed her. Anything can happen between now & 2016...she could change her mind & decide to run. Who knows?

12. Someone did ask him that in 2001:
Asked about fears expressed by some Bush loyalists that Mr. McCain would run against him in 2004 if he looked vulnerable, Mr. McCain said, "That would be foolish on my part. History shows that taking on an incumbent president is a fool's errand.

"I really feel I had my run at it. I have no contemplation of running for president again, none whatsoever. I fully anticipate campaigning for the re-election of George Bush."

So has he ruled out in his mind ever running for president again? "Oh, yeah," he said.
