I have to give Frist credit for going on Maher's Real Time
Bill Frist is no fool (winger extraordinaire indeed); he knew that he was in enemy territory going on Real Time.

Frist knew he would be crucified (and rightly so) for all BS that he espoused during the rise of the neocons. But, somewhere deep inside he still has a conscience (itty bitty) and went on Real Time to do one thing ... counter Maher's whacko belief about vaccines.

Frist, took the beating, made his points and left. Polio, smallpox are eradicated. Flu greatly diminished. This H1N1 vaccine is effective. Pregnant women 9 times more likely to die if exposed. H1N1 is more dangerous for younger folks and pregnant women.

Watching the clip my head exploded. Frist (winger/neocon of the first degree) pleading with Maher (liberal) to look at the science. At one point Frist states "I want to say this because I know you believe that" Maher says, "You say that like I'm crazy" and Frist appropriately gives a 1 second stare to answer and goes on with his rebuttal.

What Maher does not get is that the government does not make the vaccines, it certifies the labs and batches as safe and helps distribute them. Unfortunately for Maher, this is a real "tin-foil"/"black helicopters" belief. If he wants endanger himself, that's his right, but he really should not use his "big microphone" to espouse this without something like evidence to back it up.

1. I couldn't believe that I was agreeing with Frist and that he was using science to back up his claim
s, it was like a twilight zone moment for me.

2. I listened carefully to what Bill F said. In a word - babble.
Sarah Palin communicates whole ideas better than Frist. Not one sentence made any sense whatsoever.

3. Do you have a link to the clip?
And given that our government is being sued for forcing service people to be innoculated with a vaccine that made them sick -- what was it for, anthrax? I don't remember -- I'd have to see the clip.

8. I don't understand this stop vaccines mentality
If you think there is a problem with the vaccines, sure, work to fix them but to suggest people shouldn't get them at all is ludicrous.

11. I have a small problem with the OP
I don't consider Bill Maher 'liberal.' Small-l libertarian, more likely.

AFAIC, they can have him, as I personally don't want him associated with my political ideology.

Now that I think about it, that does sound like a Libertarian

16. Maher chose Frist to argue against because he knew Frist is disliked. Maher hates children and
women, so it's utterly unsurprising to me that he would render unqualified, ignorant "advice" that would likely result in harm and death to children and women.

18. True, he needs to open some actual medical journals.
www.pubmed.com would be a great start for him, but his stance on politics is solid, as is his take on religion.

But what makes him a libertarian?
