Priest Sentenced for Cocaine Possession

Italian priest was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for cocaine possession, with intent of sale, the Italian media announced.

Father Stefano Ciacca (44) was arrested in September last year after Italian police officers found half a kilo of cocaine in his home, with the street value of a million euro.

The police monitored the priest after he received an unusual parcel from South America, when a police dog nosed the suspicious contents.

The priest defended himself by saying he was unaware of what was in the package and that he received it from a person whom he helped with “spiritual renewal”. The judge did not accept such arguments.
