WTF? Should Women Back Palin in 2012?
As the Senate Finance Committee moves to pass health-care legislation this week, reproductive rights has been all but sidelined as an issue by the Obama administration. Should we therefore be surprised by a stunning Pew Research Center poll last week which revealed that 42 percent of Americans don't know that Obama is pro-choice?
Maybe it’s time that women gave Sarah Palin another look. Palin, back in the headlines for rushing out a new book ahead of schedule this fall, is fresh, open-minded, a centrist and a party noncomformist.
Hey, sisters in women's advocacy: Let's end the decades-long cold war with Republican women candidates. If we want progress to be made on issues of importance to women, our organizations need to master a skill at which men have always been adept: negotiation.

I am a lifelong Democrat who for the first time in my life voted Republican in the 2008 elections. I did this for one reason: McCain selected a woman as his running mate. For this act, I was accused of having lost part of my mental faculty: Some circa Victorian act of "voting with my uterus." Strange, that. The Democratic women were corralled to vote for Obama in 2008 because of one issue: reproductive rights. In other words, as my friend Cynthia Ruccia observed, "voting with their uterus."

I wouldn't back her if she was Gawd! I don't know where that woman got her description of Palin, but it came out of somebody's ass.

Is she flacking Palin's book with this article?

1. NOBODY should "back" her in 2012
Least of all women. Palin is anti-choice, and don't forget the whole "charging rape victims for rape kits" crap.

7. Palin would be perfect for all women: she openly insults feminists, then claims to be one.
She promotes Abstinence Only, but then rewards its failings.

and on and on and on.

And she's so perky!

11. Yes, just give up control of your reproduction
what does it matter, we need a WOMAN to tell us we are nothing but brood mares. Screw that!

Besides, I prefer NOT to vote for someone who was prayed over by a witch hunter to keep "witchcraft" from harming her political goals. I have news for SARAH, Harry Potter isn't a documentary. I will not vote for someone willfully living that far into fantasy land, who would seek to govern from a completely theocratic, fantasy-land perspective.

"Voting with my uteris" my ass. Voting against some idiot that belongs in a rubber room!

I prefer to support candidates who have not been members of, or supporters of political organizations that subvert the United States of America.
I prefer to support candidates who do not engage in divisive, racially tinged attacks on their opponents because they have no ideas of their own.
As to being a centrist...In what world is she a centrist???
Germany 1937?
In Franco's Spain?

18. Here's a joke I came up with
Two guys walk into a bar. The first guy says "If Sarah Palin runs for president in 2012, I'd vote for her." The second guy looks at the first guy and says, "Really? Why?" Then the first guy replies "Well, she's fresh, open-minded, a centrist and a party noncomformist."

There, see the joke? Well, I thought it was pretty funny, anyway.

Palin is old news, I really don't see any excitement for her candidacy if it comes to that. You only get one chance to make a first impression and that impression is of a Sunday newspaper comics character. She's done.

20. Why wouldn't women back Palin? Is it not the natural impulse of
women in the United States to hold high the example of one of their own gender who from the lofty air blows wolves out of the wilderness on afternoons when she is not advocating the desolation of that wilderness by oil companies?

I'm tellin' ya, that Sarah Palin's a natural.

22. This makes no sense. First, she accuses female Obama voters of "voting with their uterus"
Edited on Tue Oct-06-09 08:46 AM by rvablue
but the gist of the article is to advocate that we vote for Palin simply because she is a woman.

What we all need to keep in mind when we read crap like this, is that their are a lot of writers who are desperately trying to make a living by writing for the web. In order to do this, one must get hits. In order to do this, one must stir up controversy.

I'd think twice before clicking on that link. That is her intention with this drivel -- not to make Sarah Palin a viable candidate.

"Sarah Palin did not have a governor's seat handed down to her, she earned it. She understands what it is to be a woman having to fight obstacles—some overt and others subtle—that only a woman can understand."

Yeah, she earned that seat and fucking quit half way through cause people were mean to her.

Sorry, I prefer my politicans to speak in complete sentences and have some working knowledge of how things work. Besides her cutesy "wink" was just stupid and I wanted to slap the shit outta her every time she did it.

36. Worse...
She quit because she wanted to cash in on her 15 minutes of fame rather than serve the people of her state. She just used the "you people are mean" bullshit as an excuse and as a way to use the popular Republican tactic of playing the victim.

I agree that wink and the way she talks just moves me to ire. People who are not very intelligent, but try to be informed as best they can get my respect. I had a friend in college who just couldn't grasp some of the more complex concepts in some of our classes, but he read and he tried hard to get his B-. To this day he stays up to date with what is going on but is a bit out of his depth on stuff, but is cool to talk with. Palin is satisfied with her ignorance. She is ignorant, lazy, and arrogant which is just about the worst combination in a person.
