11. Nothing will happen before 01-20-09.
And then, the media will focus on either a) The stunning razor-thin margin by which the republicans maintained the White House, thanks to a 7 vote margin in (insert swing state here), negating all the democrat's bitching, or b) The new dawn of hope and optimism in America thanks to the new Democratic president. Either way, BushCo will skate smoothly, thanks to their media Zamboni.

in more than 50 years, despite the MSM being mostly asleep on the job. I think history's verdict will match the public's.

3. Why is it that the worst things that have ever happened to this country...
...happened under this administration? Katrina, 9/11, Iraq, and now this. Have we all just had a collective nervous breakdown? Are we at last shocked enough to do something or are we just desensitized to horror?

4. Bush had discovered reverse karma
Everything bad and horrible he does (which is basically anything between wake-up and pass-out) winds up destroying other people and benefiting him. It is a truly bizarre phenomenon. Maybe a new book needs to be written about it..."Bushartha." Or "Shitartha." Either way, he seems to have called upon a peculiar dark force in the universe.

Amish shootings...FOLEY Scandal (this was HUGE...fell off the radar shortly thereafter), release of Woodward's book, Ralston resigns. Amish shooter barricades himself in...has 2 guns in possession. Lines students up and kills execution style.

VT shootings gunman has 2 guns in possession...barricades classroom door...reports of students killed execution style. Gonzo hearings POSTPONED. US Attorney purges shows Abramoff connection.

Wow. Just wow.

21. I'm sure some Freepers said the same following Oklahoma City
The fact is that tragedies happen and people look to their leaders to do the consoling. I don't know about you, but I want my president to get on the air and say platitudes about we'll get thru this and we'll make this right. Since my president isn't recognized by the government, I'll accept Bush saying this instead.

I also want him to follow thru on those platitudes. But when the country takes a psychological shock and many people now face the worst tragedies of their lives, they have a right to have their president honor that loss and remind us of our strengths. Bush's megaphone moment at Ground Zero was one of the two good things he's done in the White House (the other is his laudable repetition about Islam being a religion of peace--a mantra that has probably saved quite a few lives). If this is all he's good for, so be it. This is a time when he can actually earn his pay.

Assuming he doesn't fuck it up (and I can't imagine how he could--altho I've learned not to misunderestimate him) this is what he's good for, saying the obvious when the right words are put in front of him. I wish him well in how he handles it.

I wouldn't sweat the inevitable bump he'll get in the polls from this. Things (God willing) will return to normal in a few weeks; at least for those of us who didn't have their loved ones killed or wounded today. I don't think this incident will turn anyone around on the war.

42. Bush's megaphone moment was nothing but a sleazy PHOTO-OP!
I, too, wish we could have a President that was capable of consoling a nation after a horrible tragedy like this. Unfortunately, that "president" does not exist. Didn't you hear? Little Lord Pissypants made his remarks earlier (all of about 1-2 minutes worth)...

He stumbled over what he was reading. His sincerity and emotional "outreach" was DESPERATELY lacking. "bump in the polls"??? I WON'T sweat it because it will NEVER happen! "Inevitable"? OMG!!! The days of him capitalizing on tragedy are OVER. Take that one to the bank.

BTW- thanks for the endearing portrait of a fictional president. Where do we go to find someone that ACTUALLY BEHAVES like a responsible leader?

Which is a bigger problem???

The Bush-farts may not be creating these distractions, but they certainly magnify their importance to distract from their own criminal activity.

Once again, Bush's Corporate media supporters have made this a historical event, another day that "shook the world."

This follows last week's Imus "atrocity," yet another "day that will go down in infamy."

I'm glad Congress has got its priorities right. :sarcasm:

We need to make sure we keep "connecting" Bush to the 3,300 Americans killed in Iraq, and the 62 killed in April already, and the first time we've had over 80 monthly casualties in Iraq for 3 straight months. And that we are on track to lose over 100 Americans in Iraq this month.

33.  It sure seems that way .
I could not believe the horror today and now this will be the main topic of discussion for weeks to come , as anyone knows there is always developing news and then the parents come on and the stories swell and the news people fight for the slots .

It seemed when Clinton was facing his ordeal nothing else was there to over shaddow that .

I feel the worst of all is there seems to be a never ending stream of horrors and almost each week there is another horror for all to see and feel . This is over whelming stuff .

There are no remedies and life just seems to be a series of horrors that soon find their way into the vast memory hole , people just never learn a damn thing and with this we will continue to make the same and even worse mistakes as the time goes on running over us in so many different ways .
