Is it a prerequisite for Republicans that they not only believe truth not only doesn't matter, but that uncomfortable truth must be suppressed?

1. The short answer is no
But after reading most of The Shock Doctrine (I'll finish it sometime this week I hope), I have to wonder if the actual problem is that they have no conscience.

Be very afraid.

2. Only when they are on the toilet.
Even then they are so mean they are probably constipated so it is a close run thing.

4. Come to think of it
It's too bad they couldn't flush themselves. It would make this whole nation a little less constipated.

5. Remember the phrase that pays: "Facts are useless things".
Guess who said it?

Their Saint(tm). Reagan.

7. Of course they do
Try enacting health care reform so that the richest country in the world actually does a competent job of taking care of its citizens at the expense of useless gatekeepers like the insurance companies. Whoa Nelly! The Republicans sure care about that!

8. Must reading: New Yorker article on the Willingham case
Edited on Sun Oct-04-09 09:03 AM by Lancer
It's lengthy but highly compelling. Reads a little like Truman Capote. The "system" and Willingham's court-appointed lawyers -- their client was poor as dirt, young and uneducated -- seemed hellbent on finding someone to blame for the deaths of three little children in a fire. Their father was the only suspect.

The initial arson investigators were not well-trained and were ready to jump to a conclusion that would satisfy the prosecution. Willingham's trial lasted only 2 days. Six weeks before Todd Willingham's execution, Dr. Gerald Hurst, one of the country's best and most reputable arson analysts, re-examined all the forensic evidence. He reached a conclusion that fit the facts of the fire, not the incompetent suppositions about the fire and Mr. Willingham's character and behavior as described to the jury. But it was too late.

Like his predecessor, George W. Bush, TX Gov. Rick Perry allows so many lethal injections to go forward it makes one wonder if he isn't hip-deep in kickbacks from the pharmaceutical companies.
