Breaking: IDIOT Thompson Blames Va Shooting on Games

Yep, despite the fact that he's a known liar, infamous for threatening fellow attorneys and judges and is on the cusp of (one would hope) losing his license to practice law in Florida, Jack Thompson managed to weasel his way onto Fox News to spew his own particular brand of hate and lies.

That's right, Thompson is trying to link the worst shooting in U.S. history, the one that occurred earlier today at Virginia Tech, to video games.

What I love about this is that just about everything he says on live television is blatantly not true, like blaming video games on the Red Lake High School shooting.

It saddens me that filth like Jack can get on national television to gloat and revel in the deaths of so many and try to put it off as education. Brian Crecente

Gotta love Jack Thompson, professional asshole, infamous for his crusade against Grand Theft Auto...

32. Still, they did, with people of evil intent at the controls.
What they were built for, and what those planes were used for, are two different things.

As with most guns owned by law-abiding Americans.

17. Damn those guns for walking in there and shooting the shit out of people!
Someone should have seen those guns running down the street all by themselves toward campus.

But he's irrelevant.

You know I was just saying to a friend while I was playing grand theft auto, "you know, I have this crazy urge to go out to kill and main people souly for my own enjoyment, what do you think, bob?"

Bob thought for a moment and said, "well, dave, I have had this unquenchable thirst for blood lately, as well, and I believe that a little mayhem and destruction are in order."

So bob and I walked out to the car, pumped up with excitement from our afternoon playing grand theft auto and filled with delusions of grandeur, we hit the road with a mission.

As bob and I casually mowed down one pedestrian after another, I turned to him, mid killing spree, and said, "you know bob, I have been thinking, do you think it's the failure of society that has turned us to this life of mayhem? Or do you think it's the failure of strong parental images, guidelines and lack boundaries set for us that has lead us down this road?"

We both momentarily chuckled at my pun, but bob thought for a moment, looking but not really "seeing" as one innocent person flew over our hood after another, then turned to me thoughtfully and said, "you know dave, you might just have a point there, I feel that if my parents were more like parents and not wanting to be my "best friend" (bob loves doing that finger thing for parentheses), I would have had the structure in my life that I so desperately crave on a deeper emotional level".

I really enjoyed bobs introspective moments that allow me to explore the deeper issues of life. "I concur", I stated and slammed the breaks on the car, just short of a family of 5 in the middle of shopping mall.

We exited our vehicle and turned ourselves in. We both felt better at taking responsibility for our actions.

Now as bob and I sit in our maximum security cell here in texas awaiting our death in the gas chamber, I look back and think of all the errors I have made. But also at the irony. bob and I killed people and now we are being killed to show that killing is wrong. Life is just so kooky, ain't it?

8. Not this crap again. I'm sick of moralistic Boomers who...
...don't know what the fuck they are talking about except that there is another faux "crusade" they must wage. The anti-game crap of boomers is just a disgusting version of "OMG those new things are destroying society" bullshit that is gone on since the beginning of time.

10. And one more thing, irony...
these repukes get all batshit crazy blaming video games for everything from teen sex to mass killings, yet they have no problem with our soldiers over in Iraq playing those same video games to get "amped" up (I sure PTS has nothing to do with it... :sarcasm: ).

So let's get this straight shall we?

According to the repukes and any Dem that wants to be the flavor of the week:

kill lots of Americans with video games as the excuse = bad

kill lots of non-Americans with video games as the excuse = good.

They'll be sniffing for blood in the aftermath of Don Imus' firing, and looking for revenge.

BTW, anyone have a link to that SNL clip? I wanna watch it...

16. The only game that would incite this barbarism is Grand Theft Auto.
And even then, a pretty weak mind would have to translate a game into reality.

I personally despise FTA and its ilk for other reasons, but even I agree this genre is being scapegoated.

But playing violent video games:

increases arousal-heart rate and blood pressure.

increases aggressive thinking

increases aggressive feelings

increases aggressive behaviors

decreases prosocial behaviors

Least that's what my Social Psychology textbook says.

27. Wikipedia article...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Thompson_%28attorney%29

He has a long history of smear-campaigning and frivolous legal actions against video game companies, music companies, etc. The First Amendment means nothing to this slimeball.

This guy is extremely sleazy. In previous years, he ran for district attorney in Dade County, FL against Janet Reno (yes, that Janet Reno) and conducted an extremely vile smear campaign against her, calling her a lesbian and filing a frivolous battery charge against her.

Currently, he's in the process of being disbarred by the Florida Bar Association.

34. I believe...
that every murderer in the world has eaten bread and drank water, therefor the combination of bread and water equals killer.

I absolutely hate Jack Thompson and his personal brand of ignorance. Fox news should be ashamed of themselves for letting a media whore like Thompson on their fake news program to spout off his particular brand of ignorance like he's a real authority. I saw this yesterday and they literally called him an "expert in school shootings". The only thing he's an expert in is being a sensationalist jackass who uses conjecture and bad correlations to attack his own personal windmill.

33. Was he the jerk on the tube this AM?
Either MSNBC or CNN.

He ran down the list of video games all the different shooter used. Said the common ones were "Grand Theft Auto" and "Doom" (two of the biggest sellers). Claimed playing these games enabled the shooter to have a low heart rate and "practice" their crime.

Sounded a bit like those anti-drug folks that say wed is a "gateway drug".

But since he feels that there must be some sort of common denominator here, then I nominate: MILK

Why not, makes about as much sense as that idiot.
