We act as if this is some sort of constitutional requirement, which it is not.

We have a much better bill coming out of Harkin's (Kennedy's former) Health..Committee.

Why are we so readily capitulating to the corporatists who arranged to write a bill in Baucus's committee stacked with blue dogs, and who seem to have convinced the media that the Senate Finance Committee has some sort of proprietary authority over writing this legislation, which it does NOT, in reality, possess?

1. Because the White House is steering it that way and the DNC seems okay with it. nt

2. How? Because he, like most people, wants the Senate Finance Committee to stop holding up the whole
reform issue and either vote their stupid version out of committee or kill it? HELP has had it's version out since July 15, 2009. It's been the Finance Committee that stopped progress before the summer recess and allowed the GOP to fund the protests at town hall meetings. Now it's the same committee that's pushing out passage of reform for months, maybe, if they can, into 2010.

3. I'm wondering too. But it seems the corruption in Washington knows
no boundaries.
