2. Firefox won't?
Edited on Sun Sep-27-09 03:39 PM by aquart
Odd. I was watching YouTube for hours last night. And I have NoScript which forces me to give permission for everything.

3. I Have Same Problem
downloaded it a few times....have to switch to Explorer to watch some stuff. Same with listening to audio at certain (mostly Clear Channel) radio sites.

SUCKS....

But, I can watch YouTube if I'm on YouTube site..but not if it's a YouTube posted on a separate site.

4. The exact error message is a helpful thing...
The newest flash player didn't work for me on youtube, so I downgraded to the next-to-newest - back to all good.

15. Yep - the next to newest works pretty good on my Linux box.
Maybe the newest one is a suicide attempt. Corporations are people, after all......

5. Make sure your version of Firefox is up to date. Or try reinstalling it.

6. Could it be an add on you've installed on firefox?
I have noscripts and have to click "temporarily allow" sometimes a few times before what I'm trying to watch on a given site will work.

10. Do you have the "IE" tab for Firefox?
It's a Firefox add-on that can sometimes solve those kind of problems.

11. I tried countless times recently to install flash player on my new computer.
Nothing at all happened when I hit the download button. I finally downloaded and ran the uninstall option. Since I had never installed flash player, I doubted it would work. It did. You might want to try it.

12. here how we solved myspace music player problem -
Edited on Sun Sep-27-09 04:32 PM by msongs
youtube works ok as do most other sites but we couldnt play the music player on my space, even on our own site. we had to go to adobe.com and adjust the settings to allow myspace to put a bit of code on our computer to watch the video:

http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager03.html

using the global settings slider we adjusted to just allow a small amt. when we were done at myspace we returned to this url and set the slider back to zero. the reason we did that is here:

http://www.vistax64.com/vista-news/200742-adobe-flash-silent-privacy-killer.html

an interesting little read bout adobe security.

had no probs installing flash player 10 tho -> when the installer ran it said it was uninstaller.exe or something lol

14. One thing to do if you are having this problem...
...First, make sure you're not trying to simply reinstall your flash update over an older one. There are a myriad of reports showing conflicts between the two, ending in being able to watch Youtube but no noise, being able to watch Youtube on the Youtube site only (but not embedded youtube video's elsewhere), blackscreen-only problems, etc. Go to Tools-Addons-Plugins and remove all references to any form of Flash player, then reinstall fresh from the adobe site.

This problem also extends to at least some Linux installs, as I know it afflicted my Jaunty Jackalope Ubuntu.

16. I had that problem too - you have to update your Firefox
to the most recent edition. Once you do that, all should be well. For some reason the older editions of Firefox don't seem to be compatable with the most recent adobe flash player. I also had to update my Firefox add-ons, although the only one I use is the ad-blocker so that was pretty simple.

Try that and see if it does the trick.

20. That's why I use several browsers-- some sites are just...
ornery and break standards, and each browser hasn't caught up with all of the tricks. And, amazingly enough, browsers can have bugs.

Normally, Opera works with everything, but sometimes I have to use Chrome.

If that doesn't work, I try Firefox.

If that doesn't work, I try Safari.

At some point, I'll try IE just to make sure the site isn't completely broken.

(And it better be some damn good stuff to make me go through all that)
