Kerry reopens door to possible presidential run

DENVER - Sen. John Kerry (D-Massachusetts) reopened the door to
a possible 2008 presidential campaign during a book signing in Denver and then again, in an interview with 9NEWS.

The 2004 Democratic nominee told a crowd of more than 250 at the Tattered Cover bookstore in lower downtown Denver that he had no desire to endorse any candidate for the office right now, choosing to wait to see how they addressed the issue of global warming.

Kerry and his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, are finishing up a nationwide tour to promote their book, "This Moment on Earth," which highlights successful efforts at the local level to better the environment.

Afterwards, while answering a question from a viewer on the program YOUR SHOW about why he chose not to run, Kerry said he had decided it wasn't the right time.

"Could that change?" Kerry said. "It might. It may change over years. It may change over months. I can't tell you, but I've said very clearly I don't consider myself out of it forever."

1. I hope not!
I fully supported Kerry in 04 but he doesn't have the BALLS to stand up against the bull shit they did and will throw at him to make the general voters believe he is worthless. He let them turn his military career against him while they pushed a deserter and a pro military agenda.
I could not support and campaign for him again. SORRY John.

13. HE had the balls and did it, but other Dems didn't give him back up and left media

was pretty nonexistent overall.

Did you ever hear George Bush defend himself over charges against him?

When Kerry attacked the swifts and Bush WH for hiding behind them, the left media didn't even back him up on his challenge to debate Bush on their service - the RW media, however took the opportunity to tell Kerry he was over-reacting.

And where were those Dems providing backup for Kerry on the swifts the way Kerry backed up Bill Clinton in 92 against the draftdodger attacks?

And further - Kerry won. Terry McAuliffe and his Office of Voter Integrity did NOT secure the election process in the four years he promised us he was doing so.

He has done very good work since 2004, but that does not mean I want him to run again.

8. And what happens, Mr. Kerry, when the electoral results of a pivotal state...
...like Ohio are in question? Will you sleep on it, then concede the election, then mention these questionable results in an interview two months after your opponent's inauguration?

23. Agreed, out of loyalty alone.
I'm kinda surprised he hasn't said this already, truth be told. And Edwards has some very good plans to tackle the climate crisis, from what I've seen. He's currently my second choice after Kucinich.

He had his chance and wasted it in 2004. Give a candidate who wants to fight a chance this time.

12. I think he's planning to endorse Al Gore and is waiting for that event.

And further - what are people are afraid of? They should WELCOME a great issue debater - if they care at all about the issues being debated and care at all about THEIR preferred candidate showing themself to be the better standard bearer for that debate. If they perform better then they truly would be the better candidate for Dems, wouldn't they?

17. People are free to support Hillary
or any of the candidates who are actually running.

If Kerry jumped in, he'd have my support. Too bad it's just a rumor.

19. To the media folks stirring this up--stop. That's such a mean tease.
As if wondering if Gore would be coming back on the scene wasn't bad enough.

20. Third thread on this non story. He didn't reopen the door. He's not flip flopping
He just answered a question truthfully. The media is trying to reopen the door, just so they can slam it in his face again.

And his truthful answer was that one should never say never, but that it's not in his plans at the moment. Whoopie ding dong.

I think he's mostly leaving it open for 2012, which would be fine by me.

He's doing some good work, folks. Could we cut him alittle slack? Just alittle? We know some of you don't think he fought. We know some of you think he was a lousy candidate. We know some of you never want him to run again.

Do we REALLY have to go over this well-worn ground again? Were some of you REALLY that anxious to restate yet again how much you don't like the guy and wish he'd go away? So anxious that you'd jump on a non story from a media we don't normally trust all that much in order to do so?

I don't think he'll win the primary, though.
