1. Very interesting to see that the US is not on the list of Foreign Suitors
Now lets see how many of the companies, that had deals or potential deals with Iraq, will be granted anything at all.
Talk about imperialism!

3. Someone posted an overlying map of military bases.....
as opposed to Iraqi oil fields a while back. It was amazing, amazing I tell you, how the two virtually overlapped. I was SHOCKED! :wow:

Well, not really. I'll see if I can find it and then post it in this thread.

So was invading Iraq.

On September 11, 2001, as Air Force One headed out of Florida, Bush turned to chief of staff Andrew Card and said “find out how soon we can be ready to go into Iraq.”

Card told him that preliminary reports pointed towards bin Laden and Afghanistan.

“Forget f**king Afghanistan,” Bush responded. “Hussein is behind this. I know it. We’re going into Iraq.”

Aides who overheard Bush’s outburst say Card hustled him away and talked with Bush for more than 30 minutes in private. After that, Bush talked more about bin Laden and less about Hussein.

The Bush administration began planning to use U.S. troops to invade Iraq within days after the former Texas governor entered the White House three years ago, former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill told CBS News' 60 Minutes.

"From the very beginning, there was a conviction that Saddam Hussein was a bad person and that he needed to go," O'Neill told CBS, according to excerpts released Saturday by the network. "For me, the notion of pre-emption, that the U.S. has the unilateral right to do whatever we decide to do, is a really huge leap."

CBS News reported on Sept. 4, 2002, that "barely five hours after American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld was telling his aides to come up with plans for striking Iraq -- even though there was no evidence linking Saddam Hussein to the attacks."

The Washington Post reported on Jan. 12, 2003, that six days after Sept. 11 Bush signed an order "directing the Pentagon to begin planning military options for an invasion of Iraq."

Former British ambassador Christopher Meyer confirmed that "President Bush first asked British Prime Minister Tony Blair to support the removal of Saddam Hussein from power at a private White House dinner nine days after" Sept. 11.

Former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill published documents proving that the president "ordered the Pentagon to explore the possibility of a ground invasion of Iraq well before" Sept. 11 -- an account corroborated by another White House aide.

And never forget these two jewels:

“F--- Saddam,” Bush said. “We’re taking him out.” Time Magazine:
March 2002

"From a marketing point of view, you don't roll out new products in August." --White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card, on why the Bush administration waited until after Labor Day to try to sell the American people on war against Iraq, - New York Times" interview, Sept. 7, 2002

6. And let's not forget the payoff...

An armed guard poses beside pallets of $100 bills in Baghdad.
Almost $12bn in cash was spent by the US-led authority

"One CPA official described an environment awash in $100 bills," the memorandum says.
"One contractor received a $2m payment in a duffel bag stuffed with shrink-wrapped bundles
of currency. Auditors discovered that the key to a vault was kept in an unsecured backpack.

"They also found that $774,300 in cash had been stolen from one division's vault.
Cash payments were made from the back of a pickup truck, and cash was stored in unguarded sacks
in Iraqi ministry offices. One official was given $6.75m in cash, and was ordered to spend it
in one week before the interim Iraqi government took control of Iraqi funds."
