Is John Kerry getting back in the race?
Kerry reopens door to possible presidential run

DENVER - Sen. John Kerry (D-Massachusetts) reopened the door to a possible 2008 presidential campaign during a book signing in Denver and then again, in an interview with 9NEWS.

The 2004 Democratic nominee told a crowd of more than 250 at the Tattered Cover bookstore in lower downtown Denver that he had no desire to endorse any candidate for the office right now, choosing to wait to see how they addressed the issue of global warming.

snip -

Afterwards, while answering a question from a viewer on the program YOUR SHOW about why he chose not to run, Kerry said he had decided it wasn't the right time.

"Could that change?" Kerry said. "It might. It may change over years. It may change over months. I can't tell you, but I've said very clearly I don't consider myself out of it forever."

5. I would support him if he did-this doesn't look like it refers to an '08 run though.

I think he would make a great candidate if he chose to run again at some point.

9. Me, too.
Sadly, the story's headline is more than a little misleading.

7. er... just where does he hint at getting back in the race?
It seems he's not completely ruling out a race in the future, and he isn't so stupid to think he could match the fundraising and momentum of the top 3 by jumping in now.

Sorry, I see this as a non-story.

13. Indeed. And thanks
I hate to see such a non story used as a way to resurrect Kerry negativity at a time when he's doing good things.

He doesn't say anything near that he's thinking about getting back in. All he says is "Never say never"

It's the media saying it, not him. Big difference.

8. Nah. The media is just trying to invent something
All he says is (paraphrasing) "Never say never, but that's not what I'm up to at this time"

The media is playing the gotcha game, and people are falling for it. That is all.

12. some people love to accept whatever the media whores say in order to bash Kerry
it's clear to anyone who read the article that he isn't going to run , but the whore media is too stupid and ignorant to report on the substance of what he talked about and rather want to focus on stupid gossip.

and certain types love to fall for it .

26. I don't love to fall for it. I just love to put down John Kerry.
He turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments in my life. I am sick of hearing his more-elite-than-thou voice in the Senate. Why does Massachusetts keep their Senators elected for life?

16. Somebody already did. Yer late.
On the late breaking story section, that's what the OP started with.

And perhaps folks could wait until it's Kerry saying it, and not the media trying to invent a story.

But of course we ALWAYS trust the media around here... when we want to, that is.

31. I'd rather see Gore-Obama.
After what happened to Gore in 2000, Kerry should have been better prepared. And he shouldn't have rolled over.

17. It does make you wonder
when politicians get it in their head that they can win, do they REALLY think they can. Two good examples are Rick Santorum and Katherine Harris. Did they both REALLY think they could win when everybody else though differently. Is reality blinded by a politician's thought process that says they will win. In my opinion, John Kerry wouldnt have a prayer, but is there somewhere in his mind that thinks he can if he tries again?

22. In a way of not having a shot, yes.
I dont think there is a shot in hell that that John Kerry will be our President. Im just wondering if their competitiveness and the belief that they can and will win blinds them from the reality of the situation.

25. Maybe you're right! Did you notice
Biden and Dodd are running? In fact, there are at least 9 people running (Dems and Repubs) that I don't think have a shot a winning a primary. In the end only one will win.

I personally think Senator Kerry would be the best President we have had in a very long time, but he seems very happy with the decision he has made to stay out of this one right now. Maybe, he is just bringing a little excitement into things right now.

He's not going to run, and anybody to misinterpret his statement to mean that he is considering it, is mistaken.
So run along Kerry bashers, nothing to see here.
