Here's the letter I have drafted to send to the mayor of Mount Vernon regarding boycotting his city. Feel free to offer advice, correct spelling, etc.
Some Beck money quotes would be nice too. Most of his stuff is on video, I'd love to have quotes from transcripts.
Thanks in advance!
Dear Sir,
I'm sure you are inundated with letters right now, and it's doubtful that you will even read this, but as a local, I felt the need to inform you why I will no longer be shopping in Mount Vernon. Your desire to publicly honor a man who accuses the president of racism, yet goes on to defend the institution of slavery and 'white culture' (whatever that is) is frankly, stupid and shortsighted. It certainly says more about you than I care to know.
Mount Vernon has some great stores, a few of which, like the restaurant supply, are the only ones of their kind in the area. I was going to come to your town and spend a few hundred dollars there. I would have also spent money in your city shopping for school clothes for my son. But your public and fanatic support of a demagogue, racist and liar made me decide not to. I finally wound up having to buy my supplies from a bulk online house, the likes of which are putting local businesses like the ones in Mount Vernon out of work.
I understand you are pretty much alone in this. Your city council has voted to distance themselves, and apparently the shindig is now coming out of your pocket. I can not ultimately hold an entire city responsible for the unilateral actions of it's questionable mayor, so I will shop in Mount Vernon again-after you have left office. I will not attend the Tulip Festival, the Shakespeare Festival or the farmer's market. I will not stop on the way through to Everett to get a bite of lunch. Until you are gone. I will also be writing your city council and the stores that I did not visit the month and tell them the same thing.
Sincerely, Juno
