Why the ACORN story pisses me off so much
One of my previous jobs was as a Resident Assistant (RA) in student housing. For those who don't know an RA lives in student housing, helps the students with problems, enforces whatever laws there are and in return gets to live there for free and maybe a small stipend. Not the world's worst job.

One night I had a student on another floor (in my case i was in charge of one floor in a 6 story building) come and tell me his pants had been stolen out of the student laundry. What's more he had a suspect already, a Muslim foreign exchange student. After a moment's discussion it became clear that his chief piece of evidence was that the other student was Muslim / from the middle east (he also claimed to have seen him wearing his pants). At this point I was somewhat disgusted with him, but of course had to look into it. I was fairly convinced that the Muslim Student was innocent. After he was questioned by the person in charge of the building (we called her Dorm Mother? but she had an official title which I have forgotten) the Muslim student confessed to stealing the pants, and I was terribly disappointed.

That's kind of how I feel about this ACORN story; part of me is certain that there is more to those tapes we haven't seen, that this "sting" stinks to high heaven and that it's all nonsense. Because we all know what the real reason to go after ACORN is; we all know why they wanted to hurt them. It has to do with Race and with who the President is. But it is looking more and more like that part of me is wrong. Now I know that we are talking 5-6 employees out of several thousand, but it is pretty bad.

It's very frustrating.

Bryant

1. here's what pisses me off about this whole ACORN thing....
five or six employees did wrong... and the whole organization will lose funding. yet here we have companies like blackwater that have repeatedly screwed over the government overcharging for things.... electrocuting soldiers just trying to take a shower by their shoddy electrical work.... and SO many other things, and yet where is the loss of contracts??? where is the loss of money to them?? where are the charges???

2. And have received billions (with a B) $$.
Blackwater, Halliburton, KBR thieves are still shoveling in taxpayer dollars. It is total hypocrisy to target Acorn, and a disgrace.

3. I don't know how many offices ACORN has, but with 40,000
employees, I suspect it's quite a few. Yes this was a sting, and they did find a few bad apples. I would love to know how many offices they visited and were escorted out immediately? I agree with you and it pisses me off too, but I challenge anyone to do a sting on any operation or business that has that many employees to find even ONE that has all perfect employees! Believe me, I bet the extent to which you & I are upset doesn't even come close to how the Managers & officers of ACORN feel!

4. think of it this way
suppose while you were investigating the $50 pants, a white American student was walking out the door with your victim's $2000 laptop computer and he didn't even notice.
