Republicans are spineless for not reigning in the hateful, bigoted monster that controls the party.
The Democratic party leadership is always getting bashed in the media and in internet forums for not having a spine.

I think Reppublican party leaders are too afraid to confront these whackos from the religious right, gun rights organizations and your garden-variety semi-literate cultures across the country. At first, it seemed amusing to the party leaders. But now, it's so out-of-control, that Republican leaders with a sense of moderation are too intimidated to step in and put a stop to it.

It's a runaway train heading for a derailing device at the edge of a cliff.

1. Reigning in? They're not even acknowledging it's going on despite
all signs to the contrary. Guns to town halls, posters comparing our Prez to animals, hitler, etc. That apparently is a-ok in this country now.

And I agree; the rethugs have nothing like common sense or alternate ideas that work, so they're frightened of running off their very small base of hateful, bigoted supporters and their leaders (beck, rushbo, etc.).

2. It could be an even simpler answer than that.
The Republican leadership is comprised of the whack jobs, and not just of the religious variety. A person who believes so firmly in the idea that free markets solves all and that deregulation is good is also a whack job. He just is an ideologue as far as capitalism instead of religion.

5. Here's one idea even simpler
Right now, the GOP has no "leaders". Their party has been defeated for the Presidency, they didn't even have an heir apparent to take over from Bush, and they have been reduced to booing from the sidelines in both houses of Congress.

At this point, it's a free-for-all. We saw this happen in 1977, and the only things that resurrected the GOP were notable failures by the Carter Administration, and the coalescence around Reagan that was an "anybody but Carter" reaction.

When there are no leaders, there's nobody to tell the baggers to behave themselves.

3. Would you...
...crawl out of a bed full of top grade hookers and cocaine to go give a political speech?

4. Ironically that's what they accuse the Muslims of doing - not reigning in the terrorists among them.

6. The truth of the matter is that the Republican Party has no leaders
There isn't anyone in the Republican Party to reign in the idiots and plenty of people outside the Party that are pleased to rile them up.

7. reign it in? Hell it's their MAIN strategy, why would they ever
want to reign it in if they percieve it to be working?!

They are probably trying to figure out how to better HARNASS all that hate to their advantage.
