3. Why, oh, why,

do I remember hearing that song on the radio as I drove with my Mother to get my dress for the prom? It was a crystalline evening in the Spring, and we were both so happy. That song played, and I sang along, and I can still see my Mother smiling at me.

We found the gown that evening. A beautiful, beautiful thing that could not have been more perfect.

Now, look what I found - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90Ucr9fxTGc. And two of them are gone.

This is the first time I'm really understanding that we're not young anymore, we're not beautiful anymore, we're not immortal.

`Mary is gone.

Somehow, she was such an earth mother, such a fixture, so sturdy and strong and eternal. That voice, so effortless and right. The songs. The way they were always on the right side of the issues, and how brave they always were.

And now Mary is gone.

You are beautiful, yes, I know you are. We'll always be young and beautiful in that place where Peter, Paul and Mary are still transporting us with their music. We'll always have that.

But, maybe because there were so few women, this one is really throwing me.

Thank you for reminding me of beauty.....................
