A great idea for the "I HATE BIG GOVERNMENT" crowd.
It's SOCIALISM ya say, not a prob, make SS and Medicare voluntary, take the anti-gov guys off the SS and Medicare system, and send them a note something like this:
_____________________________________________________________

Dear concerned citizen,

Your recent rally against high taxes has not gone un-noticed. We hear your words, and have decided to take action to help you, the hard working tax payer in your life endeavors.Congress has just authorized the biggest tax cut ever in American history to benefit you, and at the same time, have taken drastic measures to rid these great states of the socialist attitude that plagues us. Since you have expressed a desire not to be tied down to a socialist government, we will no longer be taxing you for Social Security and Medicare effective immediately, and you will no longer be obligated nor eligible for such benefits. Only those who choose to remain on this program will be obligated to pay the appropriate tax rate. In an effort to reduce our national debt, you will be refunded 70 cents on the dollar, the amount you have already paid into these programs. Considering the way it is now, the government spends $3 on retirees for every $1 they have contributed, the cost savings will be tremendous. Please review your most recent social security statement to see how much you have thus far contributed to calculate what your refund will be.

We have also negotiated with insurance companies in the spirit of Capitalism to let them run freely with no competition and allow you to buy insurance in other states. This fantastic idea should allow you to get the best insurance rates and medicine rates possible for seniors upon your retirement. We all know insurance companies always have your best interests in mind, and not the investors, so were confident this action will only bring nothing but good to our country and will reduce the debt in our current Medicare system. Please be advised once you are taken off the roles of the socialist programs, you will not be allowed to re-enter or reapply for benefits, but we are concerned about your general welfare like is written in the constitution, so we will compile a list of friendly charity's you can goto weekly for food and medicine should you not choose to invest the savings brought forward to you. Best of luck, and long life.....
Uncle Sam.

1. I thought telling them yesterday to get off the public lawn would have been nice.

2. Ha!
I like it! Good plan! Later it could be expanded to include things like use of public librarys, schools, etc.

3. That should be printed up and handed out at rallys.
Give one to each person with an anti-healthcare sign that looks to be around 60.

6. Give them what they want.
Let them have what they asked for. Take away all that big government and socialism they complain about. Make it clear there is to be no bitching once they get old and those SS and Medicare contributions they got back run out. They got exactly what they wanted, they think everyone is just looking for a hand out, nanny state, and blah blah blah, then let them find their own way to pay for health care and support themselves after they retire.

I get sick and tired of hearing right wingers say "YEAH, IF I WASN'T PAYING SOCIAL SECURITY I COULD HAVE INVESTED THAT MONEY AND MADE A FORTUNE"..

Well, let em prove it... give em their money back, tell em here ya go, if it doesn't last you the rest of your life, tough luck, your not living in a nanny state remember. Take care of yourself, good luck with those nursing home fees when you start pooping yourself grandpa.

7. This is exactly what we need to do!
Don't like Socialism....then you aren't obligated to participate.

Make them put their money and their lives where their goddamn mouths are. If they don't agree to be taken off the Social Security and Medicare rolls now (with a refund of all their contributions, of course) then they can shut the fuck up!
