I'm tired...
Edited on Sun Sep-13-09 06:44 AM by armyowalgreens
I'm tired of ignorance. I'm tired of watching idiots boast about their ignorance all over the god damn television.

They say that Obama is a communist. Where? Where, motherfuckers? What the fuck are you talking about? You are so far outside the realm of reality that it frightens me to my core. Can you even define that term? Do you even know the basic structure of our government?

You are so stupid that it sends me into a fit of rage every time I see you on the television. How do you live with yourselves? How can you live in such blissful ignorance when so many people are suffering?

I'm tired of politicians. I'm tired of politicians being pragmatists. We need compromise? Why? Why the hell do we need to compromise? Do we need to compromise with the ignorant assholes? Because I'm pretty sure we could hand them a donut and tell them it's HR 1534593403 and they'd probably buy it. They wouldn't know what a bill was if it was tattooed on their forehead.

Maybe we need compromise because our government has been infiltrated by corporate interests. Is that why we need to compromise? We need to compromise because the system relies on their greed. Is that it?

That is a load of horse shit. What happened to campaign finance reform? Lobbyist reform? Is that not one of the root issues? Yet you all ignore it; Politicians and citizens alike.

I'm fucking tired of being fed lies. I'm tired of watching people die in other countries because some RC airplane "accidentally" bombed their village. What happened to liability? Now we can work a joystick and blow up half a fucking country. Great. When will the next batch of video game addicts be able to destroy several thousand lives? I'm assuming they have to go through basic training first.

But we're suppose to be okay with it because we are hunting down the "terrorists". Yeah, hunting down a few hundred terrorist assholes totally justifies the loss of thousands of American lives and hundreds of thousands, if not MILLIONS, of civilian lives. I'm assuming the detour in Iraq and our CONTINUED occupation must have something to do with hunting down those bad people. Maybe they're hiding in the poppy fields of Afghanistan. Maybe. Why don't we bomb a few dozen more villages and find out.

And don't even get me started on the gay citizens of this country. We can't even repeal one fucking bill? Apparently hunting down a few vague terrorists is more important than bettering the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans. I had no clue.

I'm tired of ignorance, greed, hatred, racism, sexism and homophobia.

The solutions are so simple, yet we are so easily convinced that it's labyrinthine. It's not. The only thing separating us from the truth is a a resolution, a bill, an order from our leaders, a little fucking compassion.

Yet we watch the speeches and we read the news. And we absorb their lies and convince ourselves that there is nothing else that we can do.

We sit at our computer and type out thoughtful muses to hold our worlds together. We tell ourselves that "change" is coming. It must come. If it doesn't, what do we have left?

I'm fucking tired of doing nothing. I volunteer and I try my best to do what I think is right. But what does it accomplish?

I'm just tired.

2. Pragmatists?
"Pragmatism is the philosophy where practical consequences and real effects are vital components of meaning and truth. "

Oh, what are you going to do if you're tired of doing nothing?

9. I agree with the both of you. I am tired too. I am tired of
all the crap that the far right does, in the name of hate, yet they get away with it in the eyes of the media, who try and label it as simple protest of big spending. I am also tired of the far left too. We need to look to each other, whether middle left, left or far left for solace and comradeship during these rough times. We also need to have our voices heard again. The first time was with our votes in November. I guess the right doesn't understand how a democracy works. That once the majority votes, it is up to everyone to work together, whether you agreed with that vote or not. They have not stood by Obama for one iota of a second. One can't possibly protest what they don't know will happen, so early in a presidency. It is the idiocy of the right, and the media to boot, that has me tired. But I would like to see us gain strength through each other. And I want us to show that strength to the idiots who are basically spitting on our votes.

7. Well... I hate to say it but... Get used to it
Because it never ends. There is no shortage of people that are easily duped into being "for" things that are bad for them. The important thing is to not allow yourself to be overwhelmed, don't look at the totality of things that need to be done, it only makes you throw up your arms and give up. Do what you can each day, take care of all the little things and the larger things take care of themselves. And.... as a bonus, I'll even give you a little thing you can do today that can make a difference:

8. yep. a lot of us were your age when ronbo raygun changed the world for the worse...
and it's been downhill ever since.

some people were even duped into thinking of bill clinton as a breath of fresh democratic air- he wasn't.

get used to it- you're a citizen of a lost cause of a country, and it's doubtful that the one life you get to live on this earth will be a satisfactory/positive experience.

10. I agree with every thing you said
There are times I think it is a lost cause and maybe I should just move out to another country. I am to old to start over somewhere else.

Most of the media is controlled by the wingnuts (propoganda as it was called during the cold war).Thank God for the internet.

12. Having lived to almost 60 yrs of age
one of the things I have found in my life to be advantageous, is not to feed into the racism and overt childishness of these people. Or to take them seriously. I have found that LAUGHING AT THEM works. Shaking my head at them, they are like angry kids who didnt get their way. I scold them, sure, but if I dont find humour in it all I give THEM power by letting them get to me.
Dont give them a lick of power and control by letting them get to you. I dumped my TV long ago, that helps my sanity. I gave up on the media being fair wayyy back when I marched with millions all over the world and saw nothing on the airwaves.
But these are the sons and daughters of the same people who were marching against integration in the South in the 50s and 60s..these are people, minus the white hoods, basically.
You are angry because the KLAN which was marching yesterday werent outed as what they are, the KLAN
so always remember, they are the KLAN..when you see them marching, or see Joe Wilson on TV, remember, its the KLAN
call them what they really are..
and get some sleep, and dont take them seriously, they are the KLAN , after all...

13. You know this brings back a thought I had the other day about Rachel Maddow..........
Rachel, it is affirmed, does not listen to TV! Link to NY Times article about that here:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/21/arts/television/21madd.html?_r=1&hp

I don't plan on giving it up (TV) but I do plan on limiting it more so I don't have the same feeling you posted! I find that I too cannot believe how ignorant some people are, or choose to be! Why would anyone want to show the world how stupid the US Citizenry is when they have their "Tea Parties" and/or act like imbeciles?

You have to admit that some of these types must watch FOX and/or the religious indoctrinators 24/7! And then how about the lies spread by the pro-health-care pharmaceutical company lobbyists sweethearts in the Congress like Joe Wilson? Makes me tired too, but I will keep up the fight for truth, justice and a better American Way! You have to pick your battles and I think we should admit that some people are just ignorant followers who never will find out the real truth for themselves!
