This is not the 9-12 rally. The National Museum of the American Indian is not in the photo. You LIE #tcot #tlot #p2

Can anybody verify this? I know there's been a lot of discuss about these photos, but I'm curious. It's been waaaaay too long since I've been to DC to know for sure . . . .

1. That's not a photo from today -
first, the crowds were NOTHING like that today, and, most glaringly obvious, today was a densely overcast day, not a speck of bright sunlight anywhere, and the idea of the Washington Monument casting such a shadow on a day like today just screams "BOGUS!!!!"

I live here.

Liars.......................

3. That's not today, it was cloudy here. Link to video taken from -
- capitol steps out into the crowd gives some idea of weather today and crowd but you really need an aerial view.

14. I think it looks like most of the crowd stops right about where the
Mall begins in earnest. That's a pretty small crowd compared to the ones I saw in DC during the Bush administration.

4. There's one way to know for sure that I can think of...
Without actually inside knowledge or opposing pictures...

Where does the shadow of the Washington Monument land this time of year? As the sun appears to move south and winter approaches, the shadow moves as well. Each day will have a reliably unique shadow each year. If the shadow is in the wrong place... bogus photo.

9. there would be no shadow today - very overcast all day
therefore, no sun to create any shadows. Nothing but dense cloud cover all day in DC.

5. This is what teabaggers do. Lie.
There's no other way to cover up their astro-turf, Fox News-funded "movement".

6. Why do they always LIE?
I swear, it's so predictable and pathetic. It's like reality is optional for these people.

10. They create their own reality.

"We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors…and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."

15. If you look directly at 2 o'clock from the monument you will see identical...
Patterns for the people walking around. Hence... fake photo, if the 1990 photo can be authenticated.

16. Exact same shadow angles
Exact same point of view.

Exact same pattern of individual people off to the right of the Washington monument.

Not to mention that there was no direct sunlight in Washington today.

11. What a dumb thing to do
How long did it take soomeone to debunk th fake Kenyan BC? About 20 minute? Would anyone be so stupid as to post something that could be proved false with 30 minutes of research.

If RWers posted pics from other marches to make their march look better I hope it gets half the airtime as the march itself.

17. Sound like a task for something like TinEye
http://ideeinc.com/

"TinEye is the world's first reverse image search engine on the web to use image identification technology. Given an image to search for, TinEye tells you where and how that image appears all over the web—even if it has been modified."

Still in beta but might be useful to those trying to ID photos.

18. There's always a load of shit posted around big events.
Learn to vet your information.

It was larger than expected, smaller than hoped for (by Beck), but no record setter.

I haven't seen the aerial photos so I can't really tell.

The Fire Dept estimated 60-80,000. MSNBC says "hundreds of thousands" Others say 30,000 or two million.

I doubt we'll know for several days.

What's unusual about it is this is the Laz-E-Boy crowd that showed up. They have traditionally been the net providers of services (with their taxes), rather than net consumers.

20. i think thats a point that being missed, the people i know who went downtown today, have never marc
marched before, and never really got involved politically apart from voting, my buddy already has been sending out tonnes of emails today and for the first time they are political instead of pics of cute girls. I wonder if this is something different on the right...
