Officer in Atlanta gay bar raid: “This is a lot more fun than raiding niggers with crack”

... A protest planned by outraged gay Atlantans was originally scheduled for Saturday, but has now been changed to Sunday at 5 p.m. They will meet in the parking lot of the Eagle, 306 Ponce de Leon Ave., according to a Facebook page created for the rally.

... Du-Wayne Ray, store manager of Rawhide Leather, which operates below the Eagle, said that he and one of his employees heard one white uniformed officer say to another, “This is a lot more fun than raiding niggers with crack.”

Ray said he was handcuffed for an hour-and-a-half to two hours on the back deck of The Eagle, and said, “A lot of anti-gay comments were made.”

Patrons were forced to leave their personal belongings at the club, and the Eagle has collected a number of cellphones, wallets and other personal effects that are waiting to be picked up, Ray said.

I do agree that gay discrimination is still denied by many here who should know better, and I don't know why because there have surely been enough examples proving it exists and is more common than people want to admit. I've seen it here and know you are right.

There is a comment down this thread a bit that proves it - seemed like a funny thing to say but was anything but.

11. I've never doubted that

a friend of mine was followed into a gay bar with his partner about 20 years ago and smacked around. The cops said they jaywalked going in there and refused to stop when they called them. He never heard them - he lost a tooth and was pretty banged up, and got to spend a night in jail for resisting arrest. Unbelieveable and his word against the cops. Those fucking cops hang out around that bar to do just this kind of shit over and over.

Both groups have been abused for years by the police and it's not a contest - it's a fucking disgrace.
