Baby born at 9:09 on 9/9/09 weighs 9 lbs, 9 ounces

LA CROSSE, Wis. — ... Chuck Berendes of La Crosse said he will never forget the birthday of this third child, born Wednesday on the ninth day of the nine month in the year 2009. Nor will Berendes and his wife, Polly, forget Henry Michael's arrival time — at 9:09 a.m. ...

But they got the biggest laugh when the newborn was placed on the delivery room scale ... Berendes said it was metric scale so the doctor did the math in his head, but to make sure, he had the nurse also do the conversion... they broke into laughter when the nurse told them Henry weighed 9 pounds, 9 ounces.

7. One of those weird little things the world likes to throw us.
Weird but cool.

His folks should make the number 9 his middle name! ;-)

9. I read somewhere earlier...
That a woman gave birth on 9/9/09, and her other child was born on 8/8/08. I think the odds of that happening would be pretty low too.

14. i am still zero population growth, not that it's any of your business,
our family starting with my grandparents has actually 'lost population' including my children. i was married three times and the husbands didn't have other children. i think it takes nerve to lecture anyone about her fertility unless you know the whole story.

16. i have taken a lot of shit on so called progressive sites for having a large family
and it has been hurtful, frankly. i told my children i didn't have them to have grandchildren, and indeed i have none, and am 60. my daughter is pregnant now, at 32, with the same great guy for 14 years (birth control works, tg, it worked for me) sorry i jumped on you, you probably get it, now!

18. I would have had more than my two, if I had been able...
Seriously, lecturing you, or anyone else for that matter, on family size was not my intent.

No grandchildren for us either, at least not yet. Congrats on your first!

20. okay, we're okay! i was called names on smirking
chimp years ago, and don't even mention how many children i bore very much. i don't think people realize how much power birth control gave women here. i had all mine planned, though people wouldn't think so in the environments i have lived in. i always used bc unless i wanted to get pregnant, and it worked. i recently went to a reunion of school friends, not a class reunion, and there were 10 of us, and a total of 8 grand children, 5 of which were from the one mormon convert in the group. all of my friends were older than me. my daughter's sil just had her first, and maybe only, at 37. and her parents are older than me. quite a change from other generations. i am delighted to have a grandchild in my future, it seems pretty hopeful. no one would ever have let me adopt, no regular income, artist, no 'roots' for longer than 10-12 years.
