Help the President! We live in a representative democracy people. Lets not forget that!!
After 8 years of a dictatorship, which is really want we had, the President is trying to restore our democracy. He is not the "dear leader". He has called upon the congress to write the health care bill. He gave them the parameters of what he was looking for, and let them get about the business of representing their constituents by crafting legislation! If you want to get the bill that the President and the progressives in this country want, then get on the phone to your representatives. Visit their offices...pressure them. The president has been doing that. As stated at the outset of this commentary, we live in a representative democracy. We railed against the last administration for forgetting that fact. Now, because there is something that we want so passionately, we FORGET THAT and want to use the policies of the last corrupt and criminal administration? How many of you who sit online day and night complaining and moaning and frankly whining about how things are going have gotten off of your collective arses and joined the Organizing for America effort? Have you even been to the website? Have you made phone calls? Canvassed? Tried to get others who are like-minded to put pressure on their elected congressmen and women???? What about going to a Tea Party rally to be the opposition and come armed with facts to change minds?

It seems to me that some on the left want the President to go behind closed doors in the middle of the night, slip congress a micky and force them to vote the way he wants them to!

The President has said over and over that he is for a public option to force competition. Do you want it in blood? He has met with congress over and over. He has expressed his frustration with the congress. He needs our help, not our complaints and misplaced anger.

Are my fellow DU'ers ready to get out there and do the hard work to pressure congress to get this done? Are you going to pull that media filter away from your eyes and think for yourself?

Consider tonight a rallying cry from the President. Get in the car tomorrow, or get on the phone and put a fire under your representatives. Tell them to do their job! You need to do YOUR JOB folks!!! Get busy and stop complaining... step away from the computer!!!!!!!!

3. And you think that's all you have to do? Wow.
Its not up to just one person.... that's not how our government was designed.

11. Here is a crazy fact about how our govt. provides corp. welfare and
socialist programs for the wealthiest who want to do business in America. It is even crazier to think that Americans who get sick and who are poor will be greeted with another tax/penalty for not being insured. The trillions of dollars that went to build the war in the middle east has gone basically under the radar, and that whole fiasco is not saving lives, but saving corporate interests. Can you imagine who really wields the magic? And they are doing it with or without Obama-Now that is what I call crazy.

4. I'm NOT going to help the President screw over Democratic ideals for the sake of passing a bill
just for passing's sake.

This bill as it stands now will screw us all over and help the insurance companies.

Obama needs to get behind HR676 or just withdraw the whole damn thing from consideration.

7. Look, single payor had NO CHANCE of passing. Yes, it would be optimum
but it was NEVER going to happen! A public option is a stepping stone.

I love Dennis K, but the reason that he never had a shot is not because of his stature (size) as some have suggested, it is because he is unrealistic.

10. Windy you are right that we need to get to work. But the only
unrealistic reason single payor was removed from the discussion before it started was because of big insurance industries removed it. Why in the name of what is realistic do we assume that the insurance industry operates in the land of what is realistic?

9. I spent evenings and weekends going door to door for his campaign
telling my friends and neighbors that he was going to take on the insurance companies and bring health care back to a place where people were the focus, not profits. Not everyone's issue, but it is mine. I was passionate and hope that it resonated. Regardless, it was well received. :)

I have his back, but he has to throw a bone tonight. I want to see Obama in Election mode and lay down the law.
