It would be like me asking you if you had ever seen American Idol, and you answered, "American Idol wasn't on before 9/11." See? Where did that come from? What did blackberries have to do with before 9/11 or not? It set off alarms in my head, it sure did...

6. My first thought is that they had knowledge of the Blackberry's from

the Canadians (who invented them?) and were able to use them - ie before 9-11 which allowed them to communicate with each other using a product others didn't know about yet, if that made a difference.

The second thought was that they are just inserting the notion that our country is safer since 9-11 because of the protection Blackberry's gave them to communicate away from Government systems?

A chronology of Blackberry's vs 9-11 may or may not pan out.

I think Perino and the others are human robots. Insert statements about how the WH has brought safety to the country. Mention 9-11 every chance you get. Test and launch. Not too much oil. Make sure they are charged up.

While Blackberries were available before 9/11, they didn't rise in popularity as sharply as they have with government workers until afterwards. This is partly due to the rise of mobile email, but it's also related to the fact that on 9/11, when the phone networks were too overloadeded for use in many areas, the data networks that the Blackberries work on weren't.
