Free tattoos in San Francisco - with a catch
Edited on Fri Sep-04-09 03:20 PM by Kadie
I was just wondering the other day when people were going to start tattooing their bodies to make money by selling ad space, but these folks won't get paid...

Turn your chest into the Google search page! FREE!

MyBrandz is offering free tattoos of your favorite brands - Apple, Google, Harley-Davidson, whatever - at professional tattoo studios throughout San Francisco Sunday and Monday, Sept. 6 and 7.

Of course, you have to be comfortable with turning your skin into a billboard for some corporation that won't pay a dime in return. Is that a problem? We didn't think so.

Caution: Logos to think twice about getting if you live in San Francisco: Halliburton, Starbucks.

3. I knew this was coming down the lane.
:puke:

Tattoo's are ugly to start with.
A corporate tattoo is even more so.

5. Branded with a corporate ranch logo
Branded with a corporate ranch logo, just like cattle. American's are just domestic animals and this proves it.

The 20 Worst Logo Tattoos
Posted by Ben • August 14, 2009 at 11:24 AM

We appreciate how hard it is to pick a tattoo design. After all, this is something you’ll be wearing, whether you like it or not, for the rest of your life. As such, it should probably be something that remains relevant as you grow, or at least reminds you of some important time or period in life. If the only thing you can think of getting printed permanently on your skin is some company’s logomark, you should probably hold off on going under the pen. Otherwise you might end up appearing in the follow-up to this listicle of The 20 Worst Logo Tattoos.

9. I remember hearing about a similar thing on NPR over ten years ago.
There used to be an aquaintence in my circle of peeps who had a huge chanel logo tattoooed on her arm. In a group that had very profound and personal stories behind their tats, that one stuck out like a sore thumb.

I thank the feminist mother of my childhood friend for explaining to us back in the 70's why corporate logos on our bodies and clothes without financial recompense is just silly.

10. People have paid for Harley logo tattoos for years
I used to frequent the rec.arts.bodyart tattoo newsgroup, and one day someone said, "I've never seen ANYONE with a logo tattoo." This in response to a thread about the unwritten rule at Nike that everyone above a certain level in the company have a Nike swoosh tattoo. Anyway, I said something like, "how many tattoos have you ever seen? Harley logos are REAL common tattoos. You go to a tattoo place and there is ALWAYS a whole book of Harley-related flash." Which is true, and WAY too many people go to the tattoo shop on the way home from the Harley dealer.

I once considered applying to Harley-Davidson to be their Director of Dermal Marketing--to create a "Harley Certified" program for tattoo shops and artists, in which in exchange for a small licensing fee and proving you can tattoo a good Harley logo, you'd get special Harley designs and a cool plaque for your booth. I think two-thirds of the tattoo artists in America would jump at the chance to be Harley Certified. I don't think I would have gotten the job, though; I didn't have any tattoos at the time and I won't buy a Harley. Still would have been a cool career.

So now someone's willing to tattoo Harley logos on people for free? Cool!
