Here's why I as a man will proudly defend and support a woman's right to choose.

1. It ain't my body. Therefore what right do I have to tell a woman what to do with her health or body. Does anyone have the right to order another person to do anything with their body? NO

Try tell that to the anti-choice crowd. They believe it's their god given right to legislate to tell women what they can or can't do with their bodies.

2. It's none of my f'n business what a woman chooses to do with her health, welfare, and body. Even if I were a woman, Women don't have the right to tell other women what to do with their health.
Example: I asked that question to my fundie mother who opposes choice. What right do you have to tell another woman what she can/can't do with her own body. Mostly crickets. She tried the religious angle but that didn't go far.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion"

Banning choice based on religious views is UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

3. I'm a gay guy who grew up in an Evangelical family and we attended an Assembly of God church. Many AOG churches are the Right Wing of the Reich Wing. The very definition of a fundie church.
Their belief was that abortion, birth control, contraception were the evil enemy or of the devil. Crazy shit. I left that faith and all faith at the age of 14. I've never looked back and have no regrets.
But before I left, I learned some cold, hard facts about their fundie beliefs.

Banning abortion and choice are stepping stones toward the ULTIMATE goal. That goal, banning ALL birth control and contraception and driving women back into the kitchen, barefoot, pregnant, and subservient to MEN.

4. Banning choice is clearly motivated by the need for an AUTHORITARIAN SOCIETY to control women. Religion is the powerful means by which they hijack independent thinking and put the death grip or the beatdown on the people to exert control. Religion has been used as a tool to control women more so than any other force. Not all religion but the fundie side of religion. The Christian Right, Focus on the Family, Operation Rescue etc.

5. An AUTHORITARIAN society cannot tolerate independent women. Independent women appear to be a threat to control freaks. It's a society that I want no part of.

Therefore..

These are the reasons why I, a gay dude will proudly stand with, defend, support, and vote to protect a woman's right to choose, and to use birth control or any contraception.

They own their bodies. Let them choose.

NO ONE ON EARTH HAS THE AUTHORITY TO JUDGE ONE ANOTHER. OR TO OWN ONE ANOTHER. OR TO MAKE DECISIONS FOR ONE ANOTHER.

I salute you, and will happily stand by you and proudly defend your right to live as you please as well. Why? For essentially the same reasons. Except the "controlling women" thing doesn't come as much into it, except in the sense that when fundies try to force everyone to live a heterosexual life, part of the goal is to keep all women barefoot, pregnant and subservient to men (because if you're a lesbian, well, you don't have to get pregnant at all, unless you choose to).

The fundie "side" of religion are those who adhere most faithfully to religious dogma regardless of the practical consequences. Nearly all religion has been used for the purpose of subjegating women and making them reproductive slaves. The few religious liberals that have recently arrived at the debate are exceptions and are usually limited to places that have weak religious institutions anyway.
