What is so terrifying about all of this stuff
Is that I know quite a few smart and educated people who are falling for it.
I had someone I have known for years and respect immensely tell me today that she and a group of friends were going to protest Obamacare. She is educated! Apparently their group got an email that stated that the Obamaplan wasn't going to furnish wheelchairs to Senior citizens. WTF? Seriously. This is fucking crazy.
The only thing I read was that Medicare was paying FOUR TIMES the cost of the wheelchair. Yeah, that looks pretty right for scamming and reform is needed to get those to reasonable prices.
This gets more insane as the time goes on.

2. Not your friend but I am getting the sneaky
that this is not just the normal fear

I will use some charged language

Warning

Don't read further if you are easily insulted

For many of these people, especially in the 60+ category it comes down to this...

There is a negro in the white house. Best case just a half race...

My evidence....

What was the only group that did not overwhelmingly vote for Obama in November? Same group... 'nuff said

And it saddens me but does not surprise me.

3. I Know What You Mean - I'm Becoming More And More Isolated As Days Go By........
because I've lost respect for many of my friends that are Repugs and are getting sucked into this stupidity.

I'm tired of getting their spam e-mails that are completely made up. At first I used to respond to them. Then I used to send them a link to Snopes to debunk. Now I've given up and don't even look at their e-mails anymore and delete them automatically. Why get myself upset.

Today when I heard that people were going to take their kids out of school when Obama delivers his address to students - now that was the last straw.

I also worried that if Obama either backs down on health reform or worse yet loses - we'll never here the end of it.

I'm sorry but if the President goes the 'trigger' route - it will only result in him & the Dems shooting themselves in the foot.

Just think of the coverage after the President's speech on the 9th - if he backs away from a 'strong public option'.

The MSM will make mincemeat out of him. Say he lost. Say he wimped out. Say he turned on the people that elected him.

The Repugs and the RW crazies and Fox will gloat on how they beat him and how they will now beat the Dems in 2010 and 2012.

They'll be saying that they're back and how they won. How they in fact stopped the Obama presidency in its tracks.

Obama will be considered a 'lame duck'. He will have failed to bring hope and change.

They will be saying all these things and bottom line the 'birthers', the 'tea baggers', the 'town hall disrupters', the 'gun toters' - essentially the minority - the crazies - will declare a victory.

BUT NO - Obama can't back down now.

He and the Dems can't compromise.

There is no turning back.

The President needs to sit on and strongarm his party now and do whatever it takes to make this 'public option' and health reform pass.

He needs to take a tough stance. This is where the rubber meets the road and he makes his presidency and his legacy.

I don't know about anybody else here - but I couldn't bear to watch the cable news shows or read the accounts of President Obama caving on this issue.

I couldn't bear to listen to the Rush's, the Hannity's, the Beck's, the Palin's, the McConnell's, the Boehner's, the McCain's, the Bachmann's of the world laugh at and make fun of this President - if he backs down now.

Call the White House today. Paint this sad picture for them and let them know how they will be portrayed if he backs away from a public option. Let them know how he will have let us down.

Sometimes its good to project an outcome before it happens - and think about how the MSM will report it.

It will be none too pretty if the President and the Dems back off of this now.

The White House Comment Line number is 1-202-456-1111.

Note - I'm not saying he will back down - I'm just saying - this would be the result if he does back down. I want to prevent that - and the only way I know how is to man the phones - call your representatives in D.C. - march on Washington - whatever it takes to prevent this from happening.

5. Dade County FL (Miami area) is a Medicare Black Hole.
As are many other areas where the predators have moved in - specifically Doctors and Doctor owned groups who set up Home Nursing Companies, MRI, CAT scan and other testing facilities and send too many patients, too often, for unneeded tests for extra income.

If this Congress and Administration are serious about saving Medicare hundreds of millions each year, they'll fund it to provide more investigators to stop the fraud and prosecute to the maximum allowed by law.

6. Agreed, McCallen Texas is the worst place for that
by the way...

But yes, they need investigations on that.

Oh and all those unneeded tests do not increase life span either

7. Yeah, I was pleased to see McCallan mentioned on the News Hour (again) tonight.
For those who missed it: For the reasons I mentioned above, the McCallan area spends twice as much per Medicare recipient as does the El Paso area. There is no measurable difference in outcomes.

8. I'd be willing to join a few teams to go down
and lay the law...

And yes, you'd hear a lot of squealing from some of those doctors...
