1. I'm sick of the HUGE anti-Obama tone of Facebook
and about to make myself a 'disappeared' person there... when I joined up I didn't think it would be that wing-nut, but seems it is, so I am really thinking of pulling the plug.

This whole video thing has gotten way out of proportion to what it is. I guess I must be under a rock here in WI, because this is the first I heard of the video speech. I'm a school principal, so I guess I am glad for the head's up on this, I would have missed it completely! Wish I had! What time will it be?

4. I got into it with the wife of a friend
He posted something snarky about healthcare, and I corrected him, and then his wife chimed in, and we went back and forth on comments off his original post. She didn't want government-ran healthcare because her dad is on Medicare and has trouble finding good doctors. I asked her why he doesn't just go with a private insurance company, and she said none of them would take him. I asked her if she realized she had fallen into my carefully planned trap and made my point for me. She wasn't too happy after that.

6. I've been on about that all day
I got particularly pissed off when a DU friend posted this letter to parents from the superintendent of her kids' school district: http://www.canyonsdistrict.org/obama-speech.html

That said, the District also honors Utah State Board of Education Rule R277-105, which states: “A parent, a legal guardian of a student, or a secondary student may request a waiver of participation in any portion of the curriculum or school activity which the requesting party believes to be an infringement upon a right of conscience or the exercise of religious freedom ….”

For this reason, we provide you with the below form. Please fill out the form if you request a waiver of participation. Principals have been directed to provide an alternative educational activity for children whose parents or guardians do not wish to have them view the address.

She sent this reply:

In response to the notice
(http://www.canyonsdistrict.org/obama-speech.html) with a waiver giving
me an option to keep my children from watching President Obama's speech
to our nation's children about the importance of education which also
stated that elementary students would not view the speech, I am keeping
both my children at home Tuesday to ensure they are
able to view the speech in its entirety.

I must add, I find it highly confusing that this could possibly be "an
infringement upon a right of conscience or the exercise of religious
freedom....", but maybe you can explain that to me.

7. Well, virtually the entire Democratic party is on Face book and we are all
posting supportive posts on HCR. One in a while an RW winger tries to debate but gives up. Face book seems very unbiased to me. What do I know? Have you friended a lot of RW nuts?

16. I have two RW nuts as friends on FB. Both have declined
getting into a discussion and I have deleted a couple of their judgmental posts on my wall.

My sense of RW types is that they are afraid of debate; afraid of facts; afraid of being put
in a position where they clearly are unable to support their position. So they run away
from debate by saying, "we'll just have to agree to disagree". Well, no. If they don't want
to talk about stuff that is important and meaningful to me they can just get lost. Who needs
friends like that?

18. I was just having this discussion with my husband. Extremists on
both sides tend to use that expression and to ignore 'facts" whenever they don't support their position.I always think about this whenever the RW use the argument that America is a Christian nation and was "founded" as such, despite "Factual evidence" to the contrary.

20. I'm reading an interesting book " American Gospel" by Jon Meacham
lLots of interesting facts to use when RWingers want to claim all the founding fathers intended the US
to be a "Christian" nation.

8. I had a similar experience, And then one "friend" really pissed me off with this remark:
"I support Glenn Beck. Let him speak. We need someone to speak for the good people."

The "good people?!" Holy fucking hell. Who, prey tell, are the good people? I have to assume that I am not a good person in her mind.

I didn't even respond. I just hid her from my newsfeed. If she keeps on being a bitch, I'll un-friend her. She's just an old high school acquaintance.

I've added several hundred people over there just for silly games and I'm sick and tired of seeing their lunatic ravings on my feed. Today I started deleted people left and right. Who cares if I lose half my Ghost Trappers team.

12. Yeah, I don't normally go political on Facebook either...
I mean for me, Facebook is for flirting with pretty girls, but an old buddy of mine got into it with a real jackass, and I had to chime in.

13. I have been doing
the same thing, in fact was up late last night fb warring! However, at the end I had out debated everyone and the last man standing told me that I was making some good points and we somewhat made nice.

However, I deleted my freeper friends LONG ago...couldnt take the constant blood pressure issues!

14. I've been on Facebook for about six months and post political stuff all the time
Granted most of the people I'm friends with are like minded. I have never had a problem with anyone yet. Then again I don't rack up a bunch of friends I barely know either.

15. This happened to me Today
What got me this morning was the fake outrage over Demi Moore saying that she wants to be a "servant" to Obama in a call-to-service PSA. I tried to tell a non-political friend that posting that the language of the PSA upset her just plays into the hands of Obama's detractors and weakens our country. That, and when a preacher asks you to be a servant to God, the word has a different meaning than when a slave was a servant to his master. Boy, did that start a s**tstorm. Words with different meanings confuse conservatives.

A few months ago I took my political affiliation (Democratic Party) off of my Facebook profile so I could stay away from political discussions and just play nice. Today I put it back on. : )

17. I'm rabidly political on Facebook
I can't help it. There are so many morans out there. I see their idiotic posts (mostly friends of friends) and I blackout with anger. When I come to, there are paragraphs long tirades debunking their fox news "facts." But, even without that, I have a lot of Dem friends, am involved in Dem groups and post good articles on whatever the "discussion" of the moment is.
