This country was unbearable under Bush. Now it's worse.

I can't stand listening to the idiots coming out of the woodwork ever since Obama came into office.

"Everything is socialism. Secession. Water the Tree of Liberty. I'm scared... I hate... Death Panels. NAZI. He's trying to take away our freedom."

At least when Bush was in charge, they were pascified. Now that we slapped the tit out of their mouths, all they do is cry, cry, and bring guns town halls.

I'm starting to be afraid of them. Of fellow citizens of MY OWN COUNTRY. Will they take a shot at him? Will their outbursts sway whichever politician away from good, life-saving, policy for this country?

It's hard enough to fight the special interests, who make SO MUCH MONEY ripping us all off. But I'm starting think: "Screw it. It's not worth it. I'd rather move to a functional democracy, and live out my days without dealing with the Western Taliban."

...Sorry... I just had to get that off my chest...

3. Some of us don't fear them, but we have lost any pretense of remaining civil to them
Frankly, if their hair were on fire, I would have trouble spitting on them at this point.

5. I'd spit on them -
I don't know that I'd pee on them (if I were male). That would be too much of a commitment.

But, yeah, I'd spit on them even if they weren't on fire......................

But I forget what I wanted them for.

OK, never mind.

14. same here
I have been shaken by the rabid ones, left with a sharp chill in the marrow of my bones. that really pissed me off, but then I realized that's all they got really. you can obliterate them with truth spoken not in anger but with a touch of sympathy and major undeserved respect.

if you don't detect the smell of greasepaint in the current goings-on, you're naive.

it's theatre, & it has producers.

8. Do you honestly think them smart or competent enough to "take a shot
at him"?

For one thing, 99.99% of Republicans DON'T want any harm to come to President Obama, and they're not racist psychos. They don't trust the guy, they hate his policies, and, mostly, I think they're embarassed at how crappy things went under Bush, and they want to direct their anger somewhere. They're just not to wise about where they direct it.

The few rabid kooks that ARE racist and DO want harm to come to President Obama...are not very sharp tacks. They couldn't think their way out of a wet paper bag. They do not have the kind of cunning or skill to accomplish much of anything. They're certainly no match for the Secret Service.

Your mileage may vary, but I base this on lots of Republicans I live among and am related to.

9. You're not the only one,
and, yeah, we're all tired of their bullshit.

But, keep in mind - that's what they're trying to do: wear us down. Dissolve our resolve.

We all get worn down by the pointless bullshit and the almost-certain knowledge that we're going to continue to be screwed by the big money folks. That our new President and the Congress that is dominated by our side isn't exactly showing signs of owning a backbone, but seem eager and happy to bend over for the minority GOPigs, and no one understands it. They're such wusses.

But, don't give it up - and I am the most pessimistic person on this planet, I think - the whiners are just that: whiners. They're lousy losers, but when they won the power (stole it, actually), they didn't know what to do with it. They fucked it up really badly, and that's ugly to have to look at now, but there it is.

Get your rest, back away from all of it for a while if you think that will help, and then tiptoe back and see if it's still of any interest to you. Maybe you're over it, maybe you can't do it any more. I sure do understand that.

Or maybe you'll be refreshed, the Democrats will have shown some cojones, and Obama will have started to use the power of his Presidency instead of bleating this "cooperation" crap that's never going to work.

In any event, DU is a great place to rant, isn't it? And you can do it whenever you want.

You did good...................................

13. Kicked & Unrecommended.
The USA is not quite as bad off with Obama as we were under Bush. Obama represents an improvement, though maybe not as much as we were hoping for.

But yes, I am amazed at how stupid / ignorant so many fellow Americans are, for swallowing the lies spoon fed to them through propaganda machines like Fox Snooze, Glenn Beck, and Rush Limbaugh.

It only gets to you if you let it. 9 times out of 10 you are amplifying it yourself by being a news junkie. It's not nearly as dramatic as the media is making it out to be. Imagine the media as a giant magnifying glass only focusing on what it want's to and making it seem much larger than it actually is.

For example, I stopped watching CNN and get most of my "that is just nonsense" news from the Daily Show and Colbert. I almost never ever go to reich wing sites even moderate ones like Politico. Oh yea, avoid the blogs on news sites like huffingtonpost.com. Infested with trolls bent on spewing hate and dis-information that has NOTHING to do with actual opinions out there.

Some forums are good like this one. A bit too much left wing whining around here lately though but beats reich wing hate and lies!

22. Will do.*
I'm a worrier by nature, but I didn't realize how fed up I was with the nonsense. I think it may have been the clip of the "I pray for Obama to die and go to hell" preacher Steven Anderson. His rants, along with (for some reason) Jon Voight on Huckabee just set me off earlier. I must have been on a shorter fuse lately than I thought.

* I'll probably not disconnect completely, but I will focus more on something else for the next week or so.

23. If Obama would just unite the Democrats in Congress behind a
solid program, the Republicans would not dare do this. Also, the Justice Department should have immediately started indicting the crooks in the Bush administration. Obama's unwillingness to enforce the law, his hesitancy to point the finger at the crimes of the Bush administration not only with regard to Iraq and torture but also with regard to the outright theft from the public treasury made him look frightened and weak and ineffective.

My husband taught school in a country in which classroom teachers tended to be very strict. Naturally, as an American teacher, he was used to a more cooperative approach. He soon learned that if he had a class that had just been taught by a stricter teacher, he had to impose strict discipline. If he didn't the children would really let go and become uncontrollable.

Obama appears too weak, too lenient. He needs to command a bit more. He doesn't have to become too authoritarian. He just has to act the part a bit. It's really hard to get the right balance.

24. That's a good point.
I would have thought the obvious points of 1) The Dem's agenda is pretty much good policy and 2) Failing to fulfill it is political suicide in 2010 would have been enough for the cats in Congress to herd themselves, but Democrats will be Democrats...

As for average citizens, I think 60% of them are genuinely confused or apathetic, and would welcolm a clear speech, with a chart or two saying: "Public Option is a Choice" and "More Money for Treatment" would help. He should probably stop trying to set the record straight with the lies, and just call the liars out by name. People don't know who to trust. If Obama tells them who is lying about this, and why, they might stop listening.

Every time the right wing fascists and their acolytes lose power it is incessant whining and tantrums. And, yes, I think part of their MO is to wear everyone out with their crap.

26. I don't at all agree with your subject line, but
I completely understand the body of your rant.

I don't think the country is worse or more unbearable under Obama. Obama's election, in my opinion, is flushing the racists and fringe, crazy right-wingers out into the open where we can see them and be shocked by their bizarre views and their antics. I think this is a good thing--racism has been an underlying issue in this country forever and many conservatives operate with some very strange and misinformed views--I'm glad they are finally getting some publicity and criticism.

I say bring the ugliness to light, deal with it, and move forward.
