Corzine was hurt. Yes he has a broken leg, but he also has 6 broken ribs on each side, a fractured sternum, damage to his vertibrae, a broken collar bone, and something else I can't remember.

I too want to concentrate on the screwups of this admin and how they are still screwing up the Iraq war, but his injuries can't just be dismissed as "he broke his leg, and he's OK". With allthose broken bones, I think we should all be saying "WE HOPE he will be OK."

New Jersey Governor Is Injured in Car Crash

Ostrum, Cooper’s director of orthopedic trauma, who led the surgical team, said in a midnight briefing for reporters here. “Injuries to his chest, lungs, to his legs, and he lost a significant amount of blood.” Asked whether Mr. Corzine was lucky to be alive, Dr. Ostrum said: “Yes.”

Mr. Corzine is scheduled for two more operations, Saturday and Monday, to clean up the wounds, Dr. Ostrum said, adding that it would be “days to weeks” until he was lucid enough to conduct state business, and three to six months before he could get around fairly well. Though the governor sustained a cut on his forehead, Dr. Ostrum said a CAT scan showed no brain injury.

Richard J. Codey, the State Senate president and a Democrat like Mr. Corzine, stepped in as acting governor during the surgery, and is expected to remain in charge as long as Mr. Corzine is hospitalized.

I always thought the Lt. Gov. was like the VP, and HE would step in when theGov.(Prez) wasn't able to perform his duties? I'm glad it didn't work that way,but maybe I'm thinking of a different State????

13. No - NJ does not have a Lt Governor

Under the NJ constitution the senate president becomes acting governor.

There was a proposal to amend the constitution to provide for a lt governor but I do not know where that stands.

12. He broke is thigh bone in 2 places, and the bone had pierced the skin. He's been operated on for it,

but will need an additional operation.
