Really..What the hell IS Mark Green thinking with the Seder/Lionel switch?
Edited on Thu Apr-12-07 10:23 PM by Adenoid_Hynkel
Sam's been with the network since his founding, has made appearances on cable TV, had a well-recieved book, was even on Olbermann tonight.
He's obviously got a following, is reliably progressive and has, in my opinion, the most entertaining show on AAR

Lionel is a nobody who doesn't use his real name, seems all over the map politically, is a bad fit for a liberal network, makes homophobic comments about his future co-workers (Maddow), gets angry when called a liberal
He's been in the business for years and is a nobody.
Sam came into it with no radio experience and built a following.

But we all knew this-my question is-What Is Green thinking. It just doesn't make sesne to dump one of your networks most popular voices for some b-list libertarian.
Is there more to this? Seder and Green have a feud? Sam entertaining other offers? Is this a personal move, a political one or strictly financial?

Or is the management just that stupid?

We should all blitz AAR with an extra round of calls tomorrow.
(212) 871-8150
and maybe next week during the Lionel show's call-ins. LOL

1. I wish I knew. I was shocked when Sam announced he was
losing his daily show. I don't get it here (either that, or it's on way before I get up in SeattleLand), but our local AAR station put up podcasts of his show every day, so I was able to listen when I wanted. I'm very disappointed at this decision. I've heard Lionel a few times, and agree -- he's all over the map.

2. My suggestion: Get them to move Sam back to evening - I HATE their evening
programming and used to come home nightly looking forward to Sam. I don't care if they put Lionel what's his arse on - maybe they need to pull in a more diverse audience to get advertisers, but they ought to give Sam back his evening slot.

:grr:

4. How many times has this happened? Popular show/host and AAR
gives them the ax. Morning Sedition, Mike Malloy....now the Sam Seder show? I don't know what the thinking is except a continuation of pissing off the people who listen to AAR only to find their favs fired and replaced? Self destruct mode, maybe?

Sorry, I'm still trying to come to grips with the fact that tomorrow is the last time that I'll be listening to Sam and crew in the morning, and they had become a BIG part of my morning!

If you figure it out please let me know.

5. Thanks for reminding me about his comments about Maddow.
I completely forgot. He was still on the air here in Cincinnati when I heard his comments about Maddow.

6. I like both Sam Seder and Stephanie Miller........
I was in the habit of listening to Stephanie show live and I paid for the premium subscription so I could listen to Sam's podcast later in the day since I couldn't listen to both at the same time.

It sucks to have two such great shows on at the same time.

I wish AAR could move Sam to Al Franken's old time slot cause Tom Hartmann bores me to tears, although I'm sure Tom Hartmann is a great guy.

7. Lionel Sucks BUT he's been on in the NYC market for years
Green must have been listening and fallen in love

"I'm The New Boss and I Like The Guy, So He Has The Job"

Simple as that

Nowhere near right, but
Reality

He bought the place

SUCKS!

8. Hit back hard. Write the advertisers and...
oh, wait. This is AAR.

Never mind.
