2. Nice. Except that it does work.
Torture, murder, false flag attacks, manufactured catastrophes, willful negligence/incompetence -- all these tools have worked very well for our disaster capitalists.

3. Torture doesn't work the way it was advertised.

If your objective is to compel false confessions from POWs & keep the public in the dark about what you're really doing - then by all means torture your captives.

4. Very good except I'd have used illegal
rather than wrong.

5. ... while it is both....
... I feel a lot more strongly about it being wrong than I do about it being illegal, so I like this version. If I had to choose between doing something wrong and doing something illegal, I'd do what was illegal. In this case the choice should have been easy to make, since torture is both. The administration the cartoon is discussing probably would have been a lot more likely to consider legality, if they considered anything... but who am I to accuse zealots like them of reason?

6. Wrong trumps illegal - in my mind.
"Illegal" invokes the letter of the law.
"Wrong" captures the spirit of the law.
As in, not needing a law to feel it should never be done.

8. If it's worded strickly using the word 'illegal' and not 'wrong'
Then it condones Bush's signing statements and his attempts to create a Unitary Executive false title to hide Dictatorship because with a stroke of his pen he makes anything he does, no matter how wrong, 'legal'. The word wrong will cause the legality of it to change simply because law really does, or should, follow morality. It's the reason laws are ever overturned and convictions reversed. One example that comes to mind is the execution of people who can prove they're innocent because the state is doing the 'legal' thing. It's wrong and the laws and the evidence should be examined and changed, but it's legal until it's legislated into being illegal. Still it's wrong to execute innocent people, even allegedly innocent ones no matter what the laws are.

12. Perhaps ''illegal'' was in the blacked-out portion.
As in "...wrong and illegal."

Prolly never know, though, for sure.

7. Saw something this morning referring to TORTURE as strong methods . . . !!!
With Cheney put forth his insanities -- and generally in support of him.

Sickening!!

Terrific cartoon!
