No baby shoes, no service
No baby shoes, no service

Your mother, your pediatrician, even the Nordstrom salesclerk will tell you that children don't need shoes until they start to walk. It's commonsense that a baby who spends his time in his mother's arms or in a stroller can live wildly and only sport a pair of socks or booties.

But a manager at a Burger King in Missouri thinks differently. He asked a mom and her 6-month-old baby to leave the restaurant because the baby wasn't wearing shoes.

Jennifer Frederich, the baby's mother, shared with CNN, "The manager told me that you can order to-go but you're going to have to leave if she doesn't have shoes on because it's against health code."

If this incident unfolded in a fancy place you might jump to the conclusion that the manager simply didn't want babies disturbing other diners--and so he was trying to find a way to get Frederich and her tot out of the restaurant. But this couldn't be the case at Burger King, which grills bite-size burgers specifically for kids. There must be more to this story...What do you think?

2. The manager is off his nut.
Babies that age don't wear shoes.

There is something else going on, was the baby crying.

10. More to the point, babies that age couldn't walk if they wanted to.

If the baby was walking in the store barefoot, I'd be willing to at least CONSIDER taking the manager's side.

3. I think he's an over-anxious manager (maybe new) who slavishly follows the literal word of the law.
I doubt that there's anything more to it than that. Pending new information of course.

7. I have a hard time believing some of these stories.
They're so ridiculous that they stretch all credibility. There has to be more to the story. I started off the day with hearing my cube rat neighbor getting all bent out of shape because some fucking libruls had black baby dolls pulled off the shelves of Costco. Her version of the story was that there were dolls of all nationalities that came with stuffed monkeys, and that Costco was actually being sued. Of course, knowing the source, I did some Googling, and was interested in the fact that all of the articles seemed to come up on right wing websites. I did my intensive Google and found an actual article with pictures. Only the African American doll had a stuffed monkey, and as I also had pics (my cube rat neighbor did not), I could see that 'Lil Monkey' was written across her cap, and the doll also came with a bib reminiscent of early last century racist shit (I posted something about this on DU early this morning). Needless to say, I let my cube rat neighbor know that she had access to info that was very misleading and that her outraged was seriously misplaced. Fact check your right wing co-workers and friends, people. Always. They may be nice people, but they are The People of the Bullshit.

11. folowed up here:
Burger King has apologized to a St. Louis area woman who was told to leave a restaurant because her 6-month-old daughter wasn't wearing shoes.

A spokeswoman for the restaurant chain said Wednesday that workers at the Sunset Hills Burger King took the "no shoes, no shirt, no service" policy too far.

Jennifer Frederich went to the restaurant Sunday along with her mother and Jennifer's 6-month-old daughter, Kaylin. Workers told them to leave because of the shoeless baby, citing a health code violation.

They ate hurriedly, then left.

Burger King spokeswoman Denise Wilson says health codes do not include no-shoes provisions; it is simply restaurant policy.

Frederich and her family were offered a free meal.

14. Hmmm...I wonder if it's a health code violation...
for a parent to sit a baby or toddler wearing a skanky-ass diaper up on the counter while they order or pay...

I knew someone who was in back of a mom who did that...Burger King or something...

Once I heard that, I decided to keep my hands away from the counter when ordering.

Also, and this is pretty disgusting too...bathrooms with NO soap. NO paper towels. Flies buzzing around in the stall. The wastebasket overflowing all over the whole damn place. Employees are supposed to wash their hands after using the toilet.

Yeah? Well how can they do a good job if there's no damned soap??

Yech.

So this moron is worried about a baby not wearing shoes?

Shoot the fucker.
