Elder Bush will not attend Kennedy funeral
http://www.kwwl.com/Global/story.asp?S=11007681

BOSTON (AP) - The elder President George Bush will not be attending Sen. Edward Kennedy's funeral.

A spokesman for Bush said Friday that he and his wife, Barbara, decided not to attend Kennedy's funeral after learning their son, former President George W. Bush, would attend.

Jim McGrath says the 85-year-old Bush feels his son's presence would "amply and well represent" the family Saturday.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Maybe only one of the Clintons and one of the Kennedys and one of the Obamas should show up when he croaks.

It'd be like the Abe Vigoda character in the Godfather showing up at Sonny's funeral. Other than being seen, what connection with the Kennedys are there? It just takes up two seats better suited for people who had a real significance in Senator Kennedy's life and ours.

23. Well, can't blame him really -
Probably got funeraled out on Reagan's watch. That's pretty much all 41 did as 40 1/2 - attend funerals.

In addition to that, there is the whole 'visions of mortality' thing. Senator Kennedy being twelve years younger than Poppy.

It would also force him to face the fact that the only republican 'dynasty' (41/43) will never be a pimple on a gnat's ass to this country compared to The Kennedy's.

All in all, attending this funeral would be nothing more than a direct reminder of just how incompetent the Bush family is in the eyes of history. Hard thing to be facing when you're staring into the eyes of your nineth decade on Earth and know you can't really do anything about it.
