5. Who would those who voted no suggest is more influential?
They obviously have not watched the Television or read any of the stories in the last 48 hours.

:wtf: 47 years in the Senate.

Funny thing, most of those voting probably are working stiffs who don't have a clue how much Ted Kennedy did for them as a worker with OSHA, minimum wage, FMLA and more.

8. I didn't take the poll
but I'd say Sen. Byrd is more influential. Go to West Virginia sometime, and try to count the public works and publicly-funded organizations that do not bear his name (easier than counting the ones that do).

15. Every other street in WV named Robert E Byrd
But that IS West Virginia

Byrd has served longer but does that translate into influence beyond what someone does for their own state? Kennedy had a profound effect on the country if not the world.

I suspect that people aren't really voting on the question that is being asked. They're voting as if it's a popularity contest.

The question isn't whether or not you like the influence he had, it's whether or not he had more influence (good or bad) than anyone else.

I think he had a good influence but, whether or not you like the things he achieved, it's hard to argue that he didn't have a major influence and I'm hard pressed to think of anyone who's had more.
