Anecdotal, but concerning...
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/08/27/small-midwestern-states-t_n_270540.html

As a Midwest vegetable gardener, I've notice the changing weather patterns have seriously affected, negatively, my garden yields. I'm surprised there were no Global Warming/Climate change specific topics to post this in, on DU. Even the old-time, small family farmers I talk with are seeing the same thing. Droughts, followed by short deluges, colder springs followed by shorter warm spells, etc.

I belong to several gardening discussion groups and weather groups and we've all noticed the same thing, increasingly, over the last four or five years.

1. Not so anectotal
my parents live in Mexico City.

The reservoirs are at 10% capacity

Rain in the rainy season has been spotty at best.

And when we went to visit in March it was so hot SHORTS were now a common sight.

Yes, global weather patterns are changing. and the idea that our civilization might collapse is not that theoretical to me.

3. Even here on the east coast we had a protracted, wet spring.
The tomatoes are just now producing and the pepper plants are still seeking some heat.

If nothing else, our weather is becoming more severe and far less predictable.

i have ONE CHERRY TOMATO ready to pick. the pole beans have not been right. tho my cat still likes them. i did have a very early pepper, but as of now, the plants look pitiful. and i have mini sunflowers.

thank god for the farmer's market. the sweet corn, kohlrabi, cucumbers, and regular beans were fine.
