Would you want this guy for your doctor?

A couple of days ago, I posted a link to a column in USA Today by a Canadian woman who recounted her one and only experience with American "health care." Check out this letter in today's issue: :grr:

A woman with sever stomach pain and projectile vomiting doesn't need immediate medical attention? He's a doctor and he never heard of a burst appendix (to be fair, I don't know that's what happened to this woman, but it is always a danger when you're dealing with appendicitis). I bet this doctor no longer practices but works in the medical review department of a big insurance company. :grr:

1. What a jerk.

Acute appendicitis is a medical emergency that requires immediate care and anyone suffering from the symptoms is in horrific pain. A burst appenix spreads infection throughout the abdomen - peritonitis. Strange the good doc doesn't know it should be treated as an emergency considering the number of people who have died from it.
