Reid spox: 'Patience is not unlimited'

WASHINGTON (CNN) – A spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid insists to CNN that a decision to go it alone on health care has not been made, but Jim Manley also warned that Democrats are ready to use "any legislative means necessary" to pass health care.

"The White House still prefers a bipartisan bill, and neither the White House nor the Democratic leadership has made a decision to pursue reconciliation," he said Wednesday. "We will not make a decision to pursue reconciliation until we have exhausted efforts to produce a bipartisan bill. However, patience is not unlimited and we are determined to get something done this year by any legislative means necessary."

1. Seems like there is a new script in town

Thank you Senator Grassley for getting them to tear up the old one.

We could not have done it without you.

4. Now that we have jettisoned the repukes completely ...
Can we go back to single payer now?

I want to see a health care system where ANYONE in this country can get whatever medical help they need and the bill goes to the Feds. It's paid for by a variety of health savings measures (e.g. no unnecessary tests, abolish for-profit hospitals and clinics, buying in bulk, etc) and by premiums whose rates are based on income.

Now that we can safely ignore the repukes, can we get back to talking about something like this?

PLEASE?!?!

5. How cool would that be. They could come out and say "Well, we worked

on a bipartisan Public Option, but not one Republican would support it so we opted to go with H.R. 676 instead."

The pukes would be begging for a Public Option if they did that.

Exactly
If even Harry Reid is starting to look like he has a vertabrae or two, it would be absolutely ridiculous to waste all of this on some half-assed status quo re-enabling shit bill. Just do reform for REAL, and go with HR 676.

9. There's a rumor going around that the CBO is scoring Medicare for All
over Auguest. Weiner said it on Ed Shultz last week. Haven't heard any confirmation.
I'm hoping that at the very *least* a good CBO score will at least push Snowe/Collins to vote for cloture on a bill that has a public *option*.

8. Can someone please explain *why* reconciliation is necessary?
Can we not get 60 votes for Cloture, is that it?
Kennedy might be out due to health, and Lieberman will filibuster? do I have that right?
