WASHINGTON (AP) - Forty years after Woodstock, some baby boomers haven't let go of one part of the 1960s: getting high on illicit drugs.



The percentage of Americans age 50-59 who reported use of illicit drugs within a year nearly doubled between 2002 and 2007, from 5.1 percent to 9.4 percent, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration reported Wednesday.

Cut even more of our access to health care and we will really start to self medicate.

Most of who actually have smoked pot and done psychedelics know there is nothing at all wrong with them. If you have taken them in the past and had a good time then there is no reason to stop.

I would love to see how the particiular drugs are measured. I know tons of 50 year old stoners, LSD heads but not so many tweekers or junkies.

Sadly, I know more hard core alcoholics than addicts..

5. I only know one person over 40 that doesn't get high.

My Great Grandmother smoked pot through two centuries (the 19th and 20th) and eventually only stopped out of respect for the law (she also quit drinking during prohibition although she thought that was stupid, too).

Technically I am a boomer, albeit a late one, so I can chime in.

I've never had to buy. Ever. The ladies always had it. And they came in all stripes and pedigrees.
