Will Hurricane Bill become a Cat 5 today
Will Bill slow down and mess up the projections?

Will Bill touch the Eastern Seaboard or just scrape by the Cape?

Will Bill miss Bermuda?

Whatever - Bill is a massive hurricane and Barbados, Windwards, Leewards and Puerto Rico are very lucky.

1. Don't mess with Bill

per The Marvelettes

(William "Smokie" Robertson)

Hey give me a minute - gotta tell you something:

Don't mess with Bill
Don't mess with Bill
(Don't mess with Bill) Say it one more time!
(Don't mess with Bill)

Now I know he's a guy who put tears in my eyes
A thousand times or more
Oh but every time he would apologize
I loved him more than before

3. I've been amazed at the piss poor forecasting they've done with this one so far
It's nowhere near where they said it would be today on their five day window five days ago.

And it's a ton stronger than they expected.

Could this be the one that hits New York City?

6. Bill does remain closer to the Windwards Leewards & PR
than projected

by the computer models.

How this affects the long term projections re the mainland I don't know but he's still expectedto turn North and into the Atlantic

8. The bottom trajectory looks different from the top
Another phenomena to ponder is nothings attract nothings and things attract other things

5. It won't stay one for long
Once it leaves the Gulf Stream, it'll start to lose steam.

It looks like they're expecting it to remain a hurricane when it smacks into Nova Scotia in a few days, its first landfall.

Surf will be up on the outer Cape, though.

9. It's all a matter of one cold front
and when it gets over the Northeast.

If it's not fast enough, Bill could indeed make lots of trouble for us here.

I'm not particularly worried in any case. I suppose if I lived a bit farther south, I'd probably be a basket case each summer.

10. They're now saying Bermuda
Cape Cod or Halifax - no one is sure at this stage but Bill has not turned North yet.
