Snapshot of today
Edited on Wed Aug-19-09 12:00 AM by BadDonkey
says a lot about our times and how fucking wacky things are today...

United States Representative Barney Frank (D-MA) walks past a sign prior to a town hall meeting at the Dartmouth Council on Aging August 18, 2009 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Frank, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, accepted an invitation from the Democratic Town Committee of Dartmouth to speak on the major issues before Congress including healthcare reform and efforts to curb the abuses in the financial industry. 4. Look at the face of the woman
to the left of that poster.

Look at the ugliness there. The hatred. The anger.

And she's looking at Barney, who's looking back at her with no expression. Keeping his cool.

What the fuck is happening in our country?

The hatred is barely contained. The bigotry, the vile racism behind all of it. They're just exploding, these terrible people.

Where have they been all this time? Just hiding out? How did they disguise what they really are, and do you think they're feeling better now that they can act out their secret beliefs?

It's reminding me a lot of America in the early sixties. I never dreamed I'd see this kind of stuff again.

Birmingham, Alabama, 1965...............

10. He called her a dining room table.

He made a good point too, it would take hours to have a conversation with her, because first you would have to get rid of all the false stuff she let in her head.

And that would require getting rid of her anger first, as long as the anger is what is driving her she can't think about what she is saying. That is one of the reasons anger is so bad, and tries to get people not to care about other people. And why it needs to be defeated.

11. There were several of these posters at our town hall meeting
last night.

DH and I went to Brian Baird's town hall meeting. There were young, twenty somethings holding these stupid posters,

On the way out I told one young man he was not helping his cause by holding up that sort of thing. His response? "Boo Hoo" I mean WTF. What does that mean? What kind of a nonsensical response is that?

Apparently, they don't want to discuss their concerns or have any sort of dialogue. They do not WANT to be part of the process of Democracy. They're not adding anything to civil discourse. They want to cry out in anger that Obama is a Nazi! They are getting off on their anger! It makes them feel self-righteous.

I say, if they're calling names, they've already lost the argument.

And what's with LaRouche and young people? What's the attraction? I have a feeling LaRouche is cult figure.

13. Paulites are the same kind of cult, only less whack-a-doo.
Edited on Wed Aug-19-09 10:40 AM by HughBeaumont
And Paul/Libertarians, like LaRouche, also attract a lot of budding collegiate neo-fascists and fiscally comfortable white males. Pretty much all Randist douches who think everything is about making a buck. Minus the Jesus, of course. That's how they're different from actual Republicans.

LaROOOOshers are part of the "they're all the same" cult, only instead of going the way of the Greens, they're pretty much Bircher-lites with a bit of anti-semitism and Alex Jones tossed in.
